When it comes to the fall season there is one major key point in styling your clothes, and that is layering. Whether you are going out for drinks with your friends or shopping around town, adding an extra layer is not only for comfort and warmth but for style. This can also be said for styling activewear to and from your workout or for your workout. Normally I opt for a light jacket or a sweatshirt to wear to my workout class. It’s easy to throw on over your tank without having to fuss about what to wear.

This may be the 80’s/90’s kid in me, but I have a deep love for windbreakers. Whether I am going to and from a workout or casually running errands, I’ll throw on a windbreaker. What you wear between those sweat sessions can help you achieve your goals; cause if you are not feeling great going into the workout, you may carry that attitude throughout the class. There are plenty of times I have been almost late to my workout because I can’t decide what garment of clothing I am going to sport; mostly due to the weather. Windbreakers, however, never disappoint me. I wear them throughout the summer and cooler seasons like fall and spring. They are light enough to wear when the temps are high; I will throw on a windbreaker when I am only wearing a sports bra to class but do not want to walk around NYC in a bra. Power to those who do it, I just feel uncomfortable if I do.

What I love about this breeze jacket is that it’s not only a beautiful color, but the back is half mesh making the air circulate easier in areas where you may sweat more. This way when you throw it on after a workout, wear it on a summer day, or take a jog with it on, your body can feel the breeze and breath easier. It’s also water-resilient, as most windbreakers are. Windbreakers have been around for a few decades now and as I do not foresee them ever going away, they are an essential activewear item everyone must have as part of their wardrobe.

Lately I have been religiously set in my fitness routine, with a little wiggle room of course for scheduling purposes. I know what days I want to go to dance cardio, how I like to start the week or end the week with yoga, how I have to go to Megan Roup’s class on Friday’s as a must, and add a HIIT workout sometime in-between. Since I have been persistent on my weekly workouts, I haven’t tried any new fitness studios. I keep saying this is something I am going to change up but at last, another week goes by and I can’t give up my beloved dance classes. I am, however, trying a new class this weekend called Precision Run. My friend Sara, from City Fit Life, is now a teacher there so I am taking one of her classes this weekend. Anyway, even though I do not have new to me workouts to share, I thought I’d share a few that I have been going to, or have tried in the past, that I have yet to share. And I noticed I have not shared a workout guide since January!!

activewear

When the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale started the first thing I shopped for was activewear. I knew that this was the perfect time to grab a few items to workout in for a more affordable price. And to be honest, I wear more activewear daily than I do regular clothes. I bought this top (in black) from the Nordstrom Sale and have been wearing it to my workout classes. Since the sale began I started thinking about how activewear can really be expensive. There are so many cute workout sets that I would love to have but find to be overly priced. Maybe some day I’ll treat myself and get a matching pair of leggings with a crop top but until then I’ll settle for more affordable quality items. Since the Nordstrom Sale will not last forever, sadly, I thought I’d round up a few cute activewear items that are under $100. This way you won’t break the bank and you can still work on your fitness goals while looking cute!
