At work we are starting to rolling out our pre-fall collection; some sweaters, dresses, and shoes. While I am not quite there yet to purchase boots or a jacket, I am thinking about transitional pieces. Items that you can easily wear now and well into September, maybe even into October. This week’s Sunday Shopping top 10 is inspired by the passage of summer’s heat into the crisp mornings of autumn.
A great example of a transitional dress is this brown floral linen mini dress. The overall motif and dark colors create a fall-like aesthetic, while the linen fabric and mini length is quintessential to the sunshine season. I find the color scheme to be stunning; the blue contrasting against the brown. It’s eye-catching. Pair the dress with these pretty oversized spiral gold stud earrings that you can wear year-around.
To me, one of the prettiest colors of fall are shades of dark red. It gives your outfit some color, while not being too bright or bland. This deep red midi dress caught my eye not only for its color, but also for the slight gathering of the neckline and the pleated skirt detailing. This is a dress you can wear well into the fall season. However, to wear it now in the summers air pair it with this floral print drawstring pouch. It complements the deep red color of the dress, while the linen-blend twill makes it more summery.
While this paisley print midi dress, with its silk-blend and lightweight fabric, is better worn during the heat of the summer, the coloring allows you to wear it well into September. Which is still technically summer…. Anyway, the signature paisley print and dark green is not only beauteous, but also acceptable for summer and fall. In the crisp days of early autumn throw on a cardigan or a sweater to create a more fall-like look. In the summer, wear it with these voguish brown wedge thong heels. A mixture of two comeback trends.
For those of you who are still shopping for summer outfits, pair this pretty heather blue cashmere short-sleeve knit cardigan with these white pleated shorts. A perfect ensemble for when the temperature dips in the summer evenings. While the sun is setting, wear these tortoise shell oval shape sunglasses that look luxurious but are under $50.
I mentioned in my last week’s Friday’s Simply Smitten series that I met one of the co-founders of Bond and Grace at work. We carry their The Secret Garden coffee table book. I have been eyeing this book for a while, and now that I have meet Savannah and joined the Lit Society, I think it’s time to purchase the book. It’s the classic story of The Secret Garden that we all know and love. What Bond and Grace does is turn the children’s tale into a coffee table book with oil paintings shown amongst the written words. It’s a lovely touch.
