Happy Friday! It was a week of work, literature, creativity, and self-care. The rain created a background of serenity, while I took a few days off. Spent my hours reading and resting. While the rest of my time I hustled and achieved.

My week was once again all about work. Last weekend was mayhem, but in a good way. Saturday we were so busy that by the end of the day my body felt like jello and my mind was disoriented. I went straight home, put on Harry Potter, and didn’t move from the couch. It was a good kind of tired. We did really well; worked hard and sold a lot! It was by far my best weekend in sales, so being tired was welcomed.

Tuesday afternoon I went uptown about an hour before I had to work to wander around Madison Ave. I started off at the new La Double J store, called The Lighthouse, on E69th. If you haven’t been to their three-story store yet, you must! It is one of the most beautiful retail stores I have ever seen. You walk in and immediately look up to the winding staircase with a cascading chandelier. The floors are covered in their signature geometric prints. The walls are ornamented with motif plates and mirrored cylindrical elements. The best part of the store, besides all the beautiful clothing of course, is the three-foot crystal that sits right by the front door. Touch the left side of the crystal for renewed energy- and believe me I did!

After frolicking in and out of shops, I went to work ready for a long afternoon and evening of doing inventory. We closed the store and spent the next few hours processing SKUs into an excel sheet, and manually counting the merch. I jokingly said earlier in the week that my goal was to be done by 6pm. Others believed we were going to be done by either 10pm or 1am. Well we worked hard, powered through, were very organized, and left at 7:30pm….and I happily gloated (in good spirits) about being almost right. While the work was tedious and repetitive, it was nice to bond a little bit more with my co-workers. We had some good laughs!

The other day while I was at work I met Savannah, the co-founder of Bond & Grace and Lit Society. As an admirer of their work, it was a pleasure to meet her- she is so sweet! We bonded over books, chatted about their upcoming project, and discussed various other things. The happenstance reminded me that I have been wanting to join Lit Society. I went home and finally signed up! Lit Society is a modern literature salon. They hold events such as dinners, lectures, exhibitions, and more. It’s a great way to gather and meet other avid readers. I have been missing my Guest of a Guest book club events. Since it is no longer in existence I have been looking for another similar book club structure. Lit Society seems it may be able to fill that avoid. I am very excited to start attending events, meet new people, and get lots of new book recommendations!

The last two days I have had off and I spent them working on blog content, reading, running necessary errands, and working out. It was nice to somewhat sleep in, relax a little, and catch up on life.

What I am watching: I decided to watch the new Little House on the Prairie show. I didn’t watch the original; although I know the story and the characters. And since I didn’t watch the original, I can’t compare it to the new series. I will say I am enjoying the show! It’s gives us an insight to the time period and the migration of settlers building on “open” lands. As for the characters; the dad is very handsome but a little bit too much of a pipe dreamer. Laura is a little too smug and annoying for me. My favorite character thus far is Emily the shopkeeper. I need more of her and the doctor, and for a romance to bloom between them!

I watched the three-part docuseries Idaho Murders: College Nightmare on Netflix. I have been following along this horrific tragedy since it happened in 2022. The docuseries sheds more light onto that awful night; body cam footage, FBI involvement, forensic evidence and more. The whole thing is still unimaginable to me. Maybe it’s a good thing I can’t wrap my head around why anyone would do such an atrocious act.

What I bought: The only thing I bought this past week are these gold plated pearl drop earrings. I thought they would look great with a lot of different outfits, and for different occasions. It comes in other colors but I thought the gold/ecru was timeless and versatile. These earrings are under $100.
