“I dwell in possibility”

-Emily Dickinson

Happy Friday! After feeling under the weather last week, it felt great to use my time off to actually get out and about.

I stayed in all last weekend, well besides going to work, as I nursed myself back to health. My right lymph node was swollen. Luckily it was nothing more than being overly fatigued, and most likely my body fighting off a virus. Now I feel so much better! Since I’ve basically been spending all of my time sleeping, I decided to get out of the apartment Monday for my day off.

There is this cute new cafe in Chelsea called Books ‘n Cup. Originally from Edinburgh, this darling cafe made its way across the pond to New York. It’s a great place to grab a coffee, some pastries, and work quietly in the communal space. The cafe is decorated with books, little plants and flowers, red leather couches, street lamps, and more. It’s a cozy vibe. I ordered a cup of matcha, sat down in the corner on a red leather couch and read my book. I was there for almost an hour until an older man sat across from me… who was slurping his coffee…. then chewed with his mouth opened, smacking his lips. I was so disgusted that I ended up leaving. However, I would love to go back to the cafe again, hopefully when they have GF pastries (they only had brownies left) and men with manners.

It was a very slow week at work. We haven’t been this slow since the beginning of September. To be honest, it was very nice! It has been so crazy busy over the last month, that this week was a reprieve. The calm before the holiday storm. I was suppose to do two private styling sessions but they both canceled for one reason or another. Which is completely fine! It happens a lot actually. They will rescheduled for some other time.

What I am watching: After about three attempts I finally watched the entirety of Netflix’s new show Below. Yes, it took me three tries to get into it. The first attempt I wasn’t in the mindset to pay attention. The second attempt I was grossed out by some of the imagery. However, I went back to it for a third time because I had nothing better to watch, and it stars Josh Hartnett. My teenage heart is loyal. I ended up liking the show. It’s not the best show I have ever seen, nor did I find it to be as scary as some claimed online. I sorta found it to be a little silly with the large squid. The only thing that did scare me is the brown hair girl. Anyway, I am glad I stuck with it, but again, it’s not the best show I have ever seen.

The annual Victoria Secret Fashion Show was this past week! While it’s rightfully controversial, I enjoy this infamous show. I enjoy watching the models have fun on the runway. The musical acts are always great. And yes, I enjoy looking at the creative outfits. This year I thought all of the wings were beautiful. One looked like liquid gold. The movement of the wings while the models turned around at the end of the runway was beautiful to see.

What I bought: I went on another shopping spree this week. Buying items for work, the ballet, and more.

Olive Jacket: I already have this jacket in black and absolutely love it! It’s flexible, you can easily move around in it. It’s not stiff like most blazers and jackets. I wear it mostly as a blazer, it’s not thick enough to wear solely as a jacket right now. Anyway, I wanted to get it in olive as well because I thought the color was beautiful and it gives me some more options to wear to work.

Espresso Cashmere Sweater: I realized I do not have a brown sweater. Honestly, brown isn’t usually a color I lean towards, even in the fall season. However, this year I have really embraced the color and am starting to wear more of it. This brown sweater is perfect to wear to work, paired with jeans for a casual day, and worn with a pretty skirt for dinner– think Thanksgiving!

Black Dupioni Dress: I am going to the ballet next week for Halloween and wanted to buy something new to wear to it. I have been eyeing this dress since last year and finally hit purchase. It’s a great dress that I can wear to any special occasion this season; holiday parties, The Nutcracker, NYE’s etc. I know I will have this dress for years and still wear it.

Gold Velvet Heels: I snatched these mules as fast as I could. They elevate your fall outfits, and are perfect to wear for the holiday season. I’ve been looking for shoes exactly like these that give a pop of color.

Black Lace Blouse: I needed a new top to go out in. and a top to wear while going on dates. The detailing of this top is beautiful, and I love the slight sheer paneling.

This weekend is going to be a great one! I FINALLY have a Saturday off and I am going to take full advantage of it. I am starting the day off by getting a much needed hair cut. Then frolicking around town, which I haven’t done in a while. Then going to happy hour somewhere for a few drinks.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
