“Your soul already knows that everything will work out the way it’s meant to be”

Happy Friday! I am in Ohio for a quick weekend trip. It’s been nice spending time with my family, and being home in general. The weekend getaway I needed.

Before I flew into Ohio, I spent the week mostly prepping for the trip; getting things done around my apartment and for work. I finally went to my usual DanceBody class. I haven’t been in the studio for almost a month due to scheduling conflict or pure laziness. I have done them at home, but it’s not the same as in studio. Since I haven’t been there for a few weeks I am a little behind in knowing the dances. I think I did a pretty good job catching on to the ones I was unsure of, but I completely butchered “Starstruck”. I will need to practice it more at home. It felt great to be in studio and dancing full out— it’s hard to dance full out in my apartment without hitting something.

I flew into Columbus Wednesday morning. I spent the day mostly relaxing, hanging out with my parents watching the French Open. That evening we went to my favorite Mexican restaurant, El Vaquero, with my sister and nieces. It was wonderful to spend some extra time with them. Hearing about their end of school activities and summer plans. Just being with them in general was wonderful! I really miss my nieces.

The following day my parents were babysitting my youngest niece, so I got to spend even more time with her. She is really into Snow White right now, so she has been wearing my (and my sister’s) old Halloween costume. The one my grandmother made for us and is still in great shape. She looks so cute wearing it around the house. We, of course, watched Snow White, as well as The Wizard of Oz. Which my dad sadly vetoed me reenacting Wicked…. rude.

While they watched Snow White, I went to the hair salon for a cut and color. Throughout the year I switch between my colorist in NYC and my hairdresser in Ohio. It saves money (it’s expensive for NYC blondes) and gives me a chance to catch-up with my hairdresser here. She gave me my first ever haircut when I was a baby, so in a way she is like family to us.

After my new hairdo we took my niece to the Goodie Shop for cookies. I got myself a buckeye instead. If you are ever in Columbus, near Upper Arlington, go to the Goodie Shop. It’s been around for 70 years and has the best sweets. After the Goodie Shop we went to the new-to-me bookstore Storyline Bookshop. I didn’t buy a new book but my niece conned me into buying her a one about unicorns. It didn’t take much convincing, I am a sucker! That night my parents and I went to Chop5 for salads.

It’s been raining all day today…. did I bring the rain with me from NYC? We are relaxing while I work, watching the French Open. My dad and I may play pickleball or tennis this afternoon if the sun comes out. It doesn’t look like it will though.

What I am watching: I binged watched the new Netflix mini-series Sirens starring Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy, and more. I really liked it! I think if you understand the Greek mythology of sirens then this series is a beautiful adaptation of it. There are a lot of bizarre moments, and even some really cheesy ones. The “WAP” car scene was ridiculous, yet I chuckled during it. The scenery is beautiful. I mean that house!! What a dream! I also loved the colorful clothing. Lots of Lilly Pulitzer.

As mentioned we have been watching the French Open all week. There has been some surprising upsets; can’t believe Taylor Fritz lost in the first round. I am not sure who I am rooting for to win quite yet, but am enjoying watching the matches.

My parents and I watched the new movie on AppleTV Fountain of Youth starring John Krasinski and Natalie Portman. We enjoyed the movie! Lots of action, funny banter, and clever plotlines.

We also watched Wolfs starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney. While we enjoyed it, we did think it was a little slow during certain parts. There are moments where it felt like nothing was happening, yet still happening at the same time. The movie ends with a lot of unanswered questions. I know they were gearing up for a sequel, but it was cancelled due to inner conflict. It would be nice if another network picks it up, but honestly not going to lose sleep over it.

What I bought: Besides buying my niece a unicorn book, I got a few items from Alo Yoga. I got this tennis skirt in black, this 1/4 zip pullover in black, and this full zip jacket in white.

This weekend I will be going to my nieces dance recital. I am so excited to see them perform on stage in their cute costumes! Afterwards my oldest niece has a softball game we will attend. Oh to be a kid with lots of energy to do all of this in a day!  Haha! If we can’t play pickleball today, my dad and I will spend the afternoon tomorrow playing. Other than that we will just be relaxing, and I will be enjoying being home with my family.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
