Happy Friday! We have a new pope! I tapped into the Catholic side of my family and enjoyed the Conclave hype. Say what you want about Catholicism, it is one of the most aesthetically beautiful religions. I love that the new pope is from Chicago- a midwesterner!! There has been some very funny tweets throughout the past few days. One tweet in particular I really liked said: “The father, the son, and da bears.” Made me giggle.
While I patiently waited for a chimney to blow out white smoke, this past week was filled with some fun events. Late afternoon Tuesday I went uptown to Buru to celebrate their limited collection with Mariah Grumet Humbert, founder of Old Soul Etiquette. It was so nice to catch up with Morgan (founder of Buru) and Mariah, as well as some new and old friends. I love the collection: colorful, elegant, and playful. I think this outfit (top and bottom) will be great for those of you going to Wimbledon.
The next morning I went back uptown to the Palace hotel for the Mestiza showroom event. I have been an admirer of Mestiza for a few years now and loved seeing the pieces up close and personal. They have the most beautiful prints, elegant silhouettes, and gorgeous accessories. It feels very Palm Beach. I loved meeting co-founder Louisa Rechter, and some of the other ladies of Mestiza. It was a lovely event!
The rest of my week was all work. I worked on my collaboration with Ink and Alloy — seen here. Such playful and colorful accessories! I love these cute lemon dangle earrings— so fun for the summer!
What I am watching: I started the new Netflix series Four Seasons starring Tina Fey, Steve Carell, and Colman Domingo. I am really enjoying it! It’s fun, heartwarming, yet sad and real. I have only 2 episodes left and am so curious as to how it’s all going to end. And if there will be a season 2!
I finally watched Babygirl starring Nicole Kidman…..It was awful. She was too robotic. I felt nothing between them. He is an intern who, basically on the first day, hits on his boss. It made no sense. What saved the movie for me is the music and the rave scene.
Did you watch the Met Gala? It’s my fashion superbowl! While I did overall like this year’s Met, I was a little disappointed in the lack of color. I wanted more dandyism; vibrant colors, mixing patterns, oversized accessories. While obviously black and white is chic and timeless, this was the time to be playful. I thought Joey King and Colman Domingo hit the mark on both tailoring and dandyism. I am obsessed with Khaby Lame wearing clocks on his vest. Zendaya looked amazing as always! I know I am complaining about the lack of color, however, her outfit works so well because the tailoring is impeccable. It is incredibly hard to tailor satin (I believe that is the material). It takes a very skillful tailor to do so. Also, the all white look is chic; she has drama with the oversize hat and bell bottom pants. Another favorite of mine was Gigi Hadid’s gold draped dress. While it isn’t in a sense on theme with tailoring, nor dandyism, I appreciate the fact that she honored Zelda Wynn Valdes- one of the first black fashion designers in the 40s. If I were to have been invited I would have worn something similar to what Kerry Washington and Monica Barbaro wore– a tailored blazer and a full skirt.
What I bought: A few months ago I accidently broke my resistance band during an at-home sculpt class. Not because I am overly strong, it had just seen better days. I kept forgetting to buy a new one until this past week. I bought this pack of 5 for $8 on Amazon. I like that each band has a level of difficulty; it will be nice to switch them up based on the move and my mood.

This weekend I have nothing planned. Unfortunately I will not be with my mother on Mother’s Day. I wish I could be! If it doesn’t rain then I will be out and about enjoying the city. I will continue to read my new book, which I am really enjoying! Will probably do a little yoga and pilates, as well as relax and enjoy the simple pleasures in life.
Have a wonderful weekend xo
