“When you rush, you miss the poetry of your own life”
-La Séance
Happy Friday! It’s a somber day here in New York as we mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11. I remember being in my sophomore science class watching the second tower being hit. My teacher wanted to turn it off because we were suppose to take a test that day – we all told her no. I will never forget the horrible images. The feeling we all had of not being sure if we were safe. And the confusion of what was happening. Being here in NYC all these years, and talking to those that lived through it, one thing is for sure- you can never keep NYC down! Never forget those that lost their lives, that sacrificed their lives to save others, and those that helped.
I had two days off earlier this week and I took advantage of it. Monday I went to Milk and Hops in Chelsea to watch the US Open while sipping wine. Milk and Hops is a beer tap and bottle shop that is also a bar, and also connected to another bar called The Twist (also a great place for happy hour). Anyway, it was nice to just hang out, enjoy the beautiful weather, and watch some tennis.
If you didn’t see on my IG stories, the strap of my Louis Vuitton Neverfull bag broke…. on my way to work. It was not ideal. The leather straps have seen better days, but I was shocked that it actually split in half. I scheduled an appointment with Louis Vuitton to get it fixed- they have their own cobbler which is amazing! They know their products, their leather. I’d rather LV fix it instead of a random cobbler who would most likely give me an unmatched leather strap. LV is going to give me two new straps, might as well hit two birds with one stone. It is going to take about 10 weeks, which I am a little bummed to be without it for that long. However, glad to be getting new straps that will be sturdier.
What I am watching: Still watching the US Open. I was sad Coco lost last night! I was really rooting for her to win it all! Now I will be cheering for Rybankina. Sabalenka is an incredible player, however, I just do not like her attitude. Her sportsmanship is not the best. For the mens I will be cheering on both Shelton and Tiafoe. I would be happy if either one of them win! Anyone but Zverev.
I watched the first two episodes of Furious on Hulu starring Emmy Rossum. So far I am enjoying it! It’s a thriller about a female serial killer. There is a lot to unpack there. On one hand, her reasoning, I am like ehhh I don’t blame her. But it’s wrong, so very wrong. It’s not a scary show, more creepy. The female serial killer is creepy, you are unsure of what she is going to do next. I am excited to see what the rest of the season has in store, and to unpack more of the killer’s background story.
What I bought: I need more items to wear to work, especially since it’s now fall. I went on a little shopping spree!
Peridot Cashmere Cardigan: I have been eyeing this cardigan ever since I saw the new arrivals. The green peridot color is gorgeous! I do not have any green items, would like to add some to my fall wardrobe.
Gold Lattice Earrings: Luxe for less! These gold earrings look much more luxurious than they are- under $50. A little oversized, which I love. It will be a great pair to not only wear to work, but out to dinner and drinks. It really elevates an outfit.
Black Silk Flats: I was really torn between the black and the leopard, but ended up getting the black flats. I needed a new pair and it made sense to get it now. I can always get the leopard flats later. I do find both to be very elegant and chic!
Black Cropped Pants: Another item I need a new pair of. These black pants will be perfect for the office, but could also be worn with an off-the-shoulder blouse for a night out. I was going back and forth between the Ashford and the Audrey pants, but ultimately picked the Ashford as it has a smoother design.
Satin Slip Skirt: I do not have that many skirts to wear for the fall and thought this olive satin skirt would be the perfect go-to. It is long, so beware of the length! I haven’t tried it on at work- I ordered it online. If it is too long I am going to return it, but hoping it works- at least with a pair of heels. The color is beautiful and I love the delicate lace hem.
Equestrian Silk Scarf: This scarf is going to be fun to style this fall season! It’s a classic print that has a few colors that will give you a variety of different outfits to style. I bought the medium as apparently the material if better quality than the large- which is why it’s more expensive.
LED Face Mask: Clearly not for work but a belated birthday gift to myself. I have been wanting this LED face mask for a very long time and finally decided to treat myself! I did my research and this face mask seemed to be one of the best. Also a crowd favorite. It reduces fine lines and wrinkles, and promotes healthier looking skin. Very excited!
