“Just keep going, it will work out”

-anon

Happy Friday! It’s been a week of celebration and dance. A week in which I indulged in the things that I love and the things that make me who I am.

Last Sunday I went uptown to the Bastille Day Festival run by the L’Alliance NYC. It’s a street fair on Madison Ave. that has different vendors of French cuisines, clothing stores, companies (French lessons etc), and more. I celebrate Bastille Day because it’s heavily part of my ancestry. My grandmother used to celebrate the holiday each year, so I have taken on the custom. Anyway, during the festival they had vintage French cars, street performers, dancers, and more. I had macarons and lemonade for lunch. It was a great day!

During the festival, obviously overly crowded, I ended up walking with a French woman. She started complaining to me about how crowded it was, how the majority of the people there probably do not speak French, and mumbled something about Americans. I tried my best not to speak too much because it became clear she thought I was also French, and I didn’t want her to find out I was an American. I tell you, I have never felt more chic in my entire life than in that moment. A true French woman mistaking me for a fellow madame. Highlight of my week!

Besides pretending to be Parisian, I spent most of the week dancing. I went to my usually DanceBody full-out class. We are learning the Q3 dances. Currently I do not have any of the dances down. The “Pass That Dutch” dance is very fast! There are still dances that will be introduced in the next week or two. I will have to do the DanceBody Live breakdowns to practice and nail down the movements.

Wednesday evening I started my volunteer work at the Joyce Theater. Every once in a while I will be a volunteer usher; stuffing the programs and helping patrons find their seats. I’ve been wanting to find some volunteer work within the dance world, and this is a great opportunity. It helps the theater run smoothly during productions. At the same time I get to see some really great performances for free. This time I got the see the Mark Morris company perform. It’s a modern dance company that has been around since 1980. The last time I saw the company perform was in college on a (dance) department trip to NYC. Anyway, I thought the performance was good! I really enjoyed the last two pieces the most; “Silhouettes” and “Mosaic and United”. I thought those were the most interesting pieces. I enjoyed ushering and am excited to volunteer again in the coming weeks!

Outside of the theater I have been working on a lot of content for both Instagram and TikTok. I am trying to push myself to post everyday (or twice a day) for a month. I want to see how my analytics change from being more consistent. I am working on getting to the next level and by doing so I will, hopefully, be shown more in the algorithm. A growth cross-platforms and in revenue. I find TikTok much easier to create content for as it’s more relaxed; I can do voice overs, post thoughts, etc. Instagram is a bit more challenging as I still have the mindset that it needs to be tailored, editorial. Hopefully you are enjoying seeing more of my content and I hope to connect more!

What I am watching: The Summer I Turned Pretty is back!! Yes I am a 39 year old woman who is excited about a show that stems from YA books (which I also read), but it’s so good! I am team Conrad through and through. I really enjoyed the first two episodes that they released this week.

I watched two documentaries about the Bryan Kohberger, Idaho 4 case; Dateline and Peacock. When the murders first happened I was all over it, following along. Somewhere between Bryan being caught and now, I stepped back. Thought there were too many conspiracy theories floating around, and knew that internet sleuths didn’t have all the facts yet. So I was going to wait until the trial to learn more about the case. Well we know now that there will not be a trial, so I watched the documentaries to get a better sense on what happened. I am 10000% convinced he did it– as we know he pleaded guilty. So watching the documentaries didn’t tailor my verdict, but confirmed it. I thought the Dateline episode was much more informative, but both are worth watching.

What I bought: I’ve been wanting to get a seashell necklace. It’s a huge trend that I am loving right now— even for a New Yorker that is not frolicking on the beach. I ended up getting this gold seashell charm necklace. Hopefully it will look good alone and/or layered with a beaded necklace.

This weekend I am FINALLY going to see the Broadway musical Death Becomes Her. I was suppose to see it a little over a month ago but the lead, Megan Hilty, had a vocal injury so was not performing. I was given the option to return the ticket and pick another date. Well the time has come! I am SO excited to see this fun musical. Other than singing show tunes I have nothing else planned and will enjoy another sunny weekend in the city.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
