“Life gets very quiet before all the doors open.

I’m learning that what can feel like loneliness is actually grace.

Rest. Find your strength. It will all change soon.”

Happy Friday! September has been a busy month so far and it looks as if it will not slow down anytime soon. After a semi-slow summer, it was a shock to the system to jump headfirst into events and meetings galore. But I have been enjoying myself tremendously and have been loving seeing my friends on a more regular basis.

Last weekend, as I have mentioned, I spoke on a panel for the NYC Blogger Union Meetup. Going into it I wasn’t nervous about the topic of conversation, more about sounding articulate and not saying “umm… like” a lot. Well I have to toot my own horn as I think I killed it! A woman came up to me after the discussion and said how impressed she was with me- how articulate I sounded and how motivating my talk was. She suggested  I should start my own Podcast. Starting a podcast is something I do toy with but have yet to dive deep into what I want to discuss and if I want to do it solo or not. And especially if this is something I would be motivated enough to continue and work on each week. Maybe someday I will pull the plug and just do it. But I want to make sure I am all in before I do. I would like to be a guest on a few Podcasts prior to making this decision to see if I like it. So if you have a Podcast I would love to be on it! Anyway, after the discussion I was thinking back through the topics of conversation and I realized how much speaking on the panel really helped me. It not only gave me a new wave of motivation, but it also gave me a boost of confidence to know that I actually know what I am talking about. I also learned a lot from Natalia, the other speaker on the panel. Listening to her tips and advice has given me ways to tweak my work. You can never stop learning– especially in this business.

Besides feeling motivated, this past week I attended a lot of events starting with Tuesday evening at Sotheby’s celebrating the new exhibition of Rimowa Luggage Collection. This is the first time I have been to the Sotheby’s here in New York, and I have to tell you the place is beautiful. We were able to walk through 5 floors worth of art exhibitions (not all were from Rimowa). Like most art galleries some of the work was beautiful, some were well done but not my taste, and some I personally found to be terrible all around. That is art! Anyway, the Rimowa exhibition was filled with old and modern suitcases, as well as decorative ones.

Wednesday was a little wild with 3 events in one evening. I started with the launch party for Elizabeth Sutton’s new collection of leather goods; lots of unique, colorful clutches and shoulder bags. The event was held downtown at the Wall Street Grill. It was a beautiful evening to be on the rooftop, chatting with friends and drinking wine. I only stayed at the event for a little while as I had to stop by Neutrogena’s pop-up launching their bright boost line. It was a fun event and I was able to see some blogging friends that I have not seen in a while. Upon arriving they had you write on a thin piece of paper that was on the wall your “skincare sins”. My skincare sin is that I always pick my face, which is a no-no but I can’t stop. I do it without even noticing. Anyway, once we wrote down our sin they handed us a wooden hammer and we broke the sin (smashed the piece of paper). That was fun! After Neutrogena I walked a few blocks over to the Kendra Scott store in Soho for a wellness panel discussion. My friend Emily, owner of Accessories Gal, was the host of the panel, so I went to support her. On the panel was  Amy Ling, founder of Dear Sundays– a vegan, non-toxic nail polish/ salon here in NYC. Amy McDowell, the CRO of the natural deodorant company Myro. Myro is not only a natural deodorant, but their packaging is recyclable and reusable. Last on the panel was Mike Indursky, President of Bliss– a cruelty-free, vegan skincare company. Since I had the two prior events I missed a good portion of the discussion, but from what I heard it was very interesting. It’s almost laughable how behind the US is on banning chemicals in our products.

Last night I went to Neely and Chloe’s showroom for their event with Tuckernuck. They had the fall collection of Tuckernuck there for us to shop. I had a lot of fun at the event– seeing some friends I haven’t seen in a long time like Lauren Nelson. Both Lauren and I are from Ohio, and she is one of my favorite people here in the city. It was so nice to catch up with her! This was the first time I have been to an event with Tuckernuck. They are one of my favorite online retailers, as you may have noticed that I link basically everything to them. The ladies who work for Tuckernuck were so nice, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them better. After the event I went to the store opening of Ruti. I only stayed for probably less than 10mins because at that point it was 9pm and I was exhausted from the week. The clothing is very unique. I enjoy brands that step outside the box and treat fashion like a work of art. I am excited to see future collections of Ruti and where this brand goes!

This weekend I have nothing really on the agenda except for working out. All I want to do tonight is put on my favorite robe from Allswell and watch movies in bed. The rest of the weekend I’ll probably spend with friends and start looking at apartments (hopefully). I am going to stop by the Court and Rowe store again so I can get a better look at their clothing since their event last week was wildly crowded. Other than that it is going to be a pretty relaxing weekend!

Have a wonderful weekend xo
