“I celebrate myself, and sing myself, I exist as I am, that is enough”

-Walt Whitman

Happy Friday! It’s been a wonderful week. One of those weeks where everything falls into place, works out, and leaves a smile on your face.

The beginning of my week was very lazy. It was raining for most of the weekend, and I think I watched over 24 hours of Harry Potter. Not going to complain, it was exactly what I wanted and needed. The rest of my week, however, was filled with events, friends, books, and more.

On Wednesday evening I went uptown to the Cara Cara pop-up store on Madison Ave. to celebrate Shannon Garvey’s debut book June Baby with Thousand Voices. Thousand Voices is Jenna Bush Hager’s new media company. Anyway, I had the best time at the event! I drank champagne, snacked on sugar lips, and had the loveliest conversations. I got to meet more of the Thousand Voices’ employees, as well as finally meet some of Cara Cara’s employees and Sasha Martin herself – one of the founders of Cara Cara.

There was a Q&A with Jenna and Shannon to talk about the book and the inspiration behind it. Set in Block Island, it’s about a 17 year old named Ruth who heads to the island after losing someone she loves. 10 years go by and Ruth is once again trying to find the ground under the feet, and feel safe again in the only place, and with the only person, that can make her feel that way. The book sounds really good and I can’t wait to read it!

Last night my friends and I went to see The Devil Wears Prada 2. We loved it!!! I thought it was a great continuation of the story, while still making it new and relevant to today’s world. The clothing was, of course, fabulous. And there were some gorgeous settings. A little surprise….. I am in the movie!!!! Last August I did a 2-day shoot of a party scene as a background actor. You can clearly see me right behind Miranda (Meryl Streep). It’s sorta quick, and you have to look behind the characters, but I am there clear as day! It was so surreal to see myself on the big screen of a major movie.

This was the first movie I have filmed, since then I have been in a few more. But the only movie, thus far, that is (and will be)  in theaters. It was a wonderful 2-days of shooting. There were about 300 background actors, and I enjoyed getting to know and hangout with some of them. I saw a lot of celebrities while shooting who make cameos in this particular scene. And of course, watching Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci reprise their iconic roles. Meryl Streep was super nice! She would say hi to all of us, chat with some background actors between shoots. I didn’t get to speak to her, but standing so close while she was acting was enough for me. Being in this movie is a real pinch me moment that I will forever remember!

What I am watching: Over the rainy weekend I watched Marty Supreme….. I hated it. Marty is an arrogant prick who hustles everyone, including his mother. It’s not really about ping pong but more about him trying to get money to go to a tournament. He finds himself in the most ridiculous situations. It felt like the writers were playing ad-libs with how each scene was going to play out. The only part that I actually did like, and thought was good, was the ending.

On a brighter note, Running Point on Netflix starring Kate Hudson is back for season 2!! I really enjoy this show. It’s silly enough but not overly ridiculous. I love the twisted family dynamics, and watching a woman CEO run a professional basketball team. It’s a great show!

What I bought: I bought a new white t-shirt. I needed a new “nice” one. Something I can wear with skirts or pants. I have one that is oversize that I wear with activewear, and one that I wear with nicer clothing. Anyway, the one I bought is more fitted which I want for such styling.

This weekend I will be attending the grand opening of my friend Krista’s needlepoint store. Penny Linn, Krista’s needlepoint store, already has a brick and mortar location in Norwalk, Connecticut. Now she is opening a store in NYC on  W 31st in Chelsea/Hudson Yards. The grand opening is tomorrow, May 2nd, so I am going to stop by to support her- and to catch up! I haven’t seen Krista in a while, it’s going to be nice to see her again.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
