“Breathing dreams like air”

-F. Scott Fitzgerald

Happy Friday! Like the rest of the world I was refreshing my socials for updates on the submersible. What a tragedy. Yes there were a lot of factors going into it that could have been prevented for the safety of the voyagers. I will never understand why anyone would ignore such things, especially with this level of endangerment. Pure negligence. Still, it’s so sad what happened. I don’t care that they are billionaires and paid $250K to explore something they are passionate about. They are still human beings who tragically lost their lives in the most horrific way. I don’t understand the people who are being inhumane about it. There is a difference to me in making a lighthearted joke about the Titanic versus being almost giddy about humans losing their lives because they are wealthy. It’s distasteful. What ever happened to our innate compassion as humans? I do agree, however, that you couldn’t pay me to take part in this venture. The tight space alone would give me anxiety. (more…)

“I want to be loved while I am here, and the only way to get love is to give love.”

-Snoop Dog

Happy Friday! It’s a rainy day here in New York and I am feeling the gloom. All I want to do is curl up on my couch and read my new book. I am ready for a relaxing weekend.

Last weekend I went shopping around Nolita– mostly on Elizabeth street. I haven’t been to Sézane in a while and wanted to browse their new collection. I am loving their collaboration with Farm Rio— which is quickly selling out. I tried on a few items– seen here. I also stopped by Addobe which has such cute trinkets. There was a pretty pink floral serving plate that I wish I bought.

On Monday I had a follow-up doctors appointment. As mentioned last week, I had a terrible sore throat for almost a month. I was tested for covid, strep, flu, and mono; all came back negative. I am not showing any other symptoms besides swollen tonsils. My doctor gave me meds and it luckily worked. Everything feels back to normal. I think eventually I am going to need to get my tonsils taken out. Someday. One thing that did surprise me during all of this is that my test for mono showed that I have had it sometime in my life. I had no idea. Apparently you can get mono without knowing it. I never showed any signs; never experienced extreme fatigue. I could have had it 4 months ago or 6 years ago, you can’t tell by the results. It just shows that the anti-bodies that fight mono are high. But I currently do not have mono- that came back negative. It was such a shock to me knowing that. Luckily I now have a clean bill of health.

It’s almost the end of DanceBody‘s Q2 dances. For month 3 they always switch up the songs; same dance different song. It really makes you think about the movement and what comes next. I sometimes know movements based off of the song cue, so switching it up makes me tap into muscle memory. It can be challenging but also fun. I am enjoying the last few weeks of these dances, but also am excited for the new ones. Summer dances are always so much fun. If you want to start DanceBody, summer is the time!

That evening I met up with my friend Sarah at Champers Social Club for dinner. I met Sarah this past fall at a holiday party of a mutual friend of ours. We have kept in touch via social media, as one does these days. Anyway, we decided to get together to catch up. It was so fun! This was my first time at Champers Social Club. It’s a very cute champagne cafe in Soho. A great spot to grab a quick drink or dinner with a friend.

What I am watching: Last weekend I watched the new movie Air with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. It’s the story of how Michael Jordan signed with Nike to create Air Jordan. It’s a really good movie! I thought it was funny, emotional, and nostalgic. It’s really interesting to learn how this now famous shoe-line came about. Highly recommend!

Never Have I Ever is back for it’s 4th and final season. I watched the entire thing this past week and loved it! I am really going to miss this quirky gang. Mindy Kaling did an incredible job with this show. I loved learning about Indian culture. I do not want to spoil anything, but there is something that happens that is filled with traditions and culture of India. It is very beautiful. I also loved how they wrapped up everyones storyline. It was a great ending to a great show! But I do have one complaint about Devi’s journey into college… and if you know, you know. It felt unrealistic and that is all I am going to say– DM me if you want to discuss it, ha!

What I bought: I saw this beautiful green floral midi dress. I love the detailing; ruffles and bows. I bought it in a small, so hopefully it fits! I also bought a new book, Before We Were Strangers by Renée Carlino. It’s about a couple who dated briefly in college then went their separate ways only to run into each other 15 years later on the subway in NYC. So far I am enjoying it.

I was hoping to take my book to the park to read, but may have to hold off depending on the weather. Other than that I will go for my usual Sunday run, go shopping, and explore the city.

“Be faithful to that which exists within yourself”

-Andre Gide

Happy Friday! Holy air pollution. That was a very surreal experience. As you may have seen, on Wednesday the air here in New York turned to orange. It was in one respect scary but in another way kind of artistic. My social media feeds were inundated with fascinating photos of the smog. However, I am glad that the sky is clearer. Hopefully it stays this way. It’s not healthy for us to be living like this. (more…)
