New York City Guide

new york city

One year back. Five years total. Many more to go! Today marks my one year anniversary being back in New York City! In light of what happened yesterday in Tribeca, there is no better day than today to celebrate this amazing city.  Yesterday I missed my morning workout to go to The Today Show’s Halloween segment (which was a blast), and planned on running in the afternoon instead. I live on the west side and I run the west side highway towards Tribeca. God was looking out for me yesterday as I ended up deciding to not workout at all and went to the grocery store to buy food to cook that evening. I am trying not to think of the what if’s, what could of happened if I decided to go running that afternoon. I’ll admit I am a little freaked out about it, but am trying to focus on the good in life. To feel much more appreciative of life and this amazing city.

New York girls rejoice! The French brand Sézane (the first digital Paris fashion brand) has finally opened up their brick-and-mortar in Nolita. Just in time to bankrupt me before the holidays. I honestly have to convince myself to not go into the L’ Appartement New York. The store is super cute with a little cafe and Instagram-worthy decor. Once you get past the spastic gramming session you will be doing, you will realize the entire Parisian collection is trés chic.

To be honest I never really saw the appeal of Brooklyn. Even through all of the years I have lived in NYC, I still did not understand why anyone would leave Manhattan to move to Brooklyn. Sure you may get more room, it is quieter, and probably a little less expensive, but Manhattan is…. well, Manhattan! And through the years I rarely crossed the bridge to travel over there unless it was for a specific reason. I was always one of those Manhattanites that would say “I don’t do Brooklyn” when in conversation of where to eat or what do to that day.
