“…and then, I have nature and art and poetry, and if that is not enough, what is enough?

Happy Friday! From fairies to bubbly, this past week was filled with joy and celebration.
Last weekend I went to the David H. Koch Theater to watch the American Ballet Theatre perform An Elegy and a Dream. The entire performance showcased three pieces: Trio Élégiaque, Flight, and The Dream. While I went to watch The Dream, I was thrilled by the other two pieces.
The first piece, Trio Élégiaque, was filled with connectivity, grace, and emotion. With three couples enjoying an evening stroll, we see how they intertwine with each other. The second piece, Flight, had the most beautiful visuals. With only one light shining onto the stage, and Herman Cornejo wearing only black pants, we saw every muscle, every movement, and every extended line. It was beautiful to watch.
The Dream is based off of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. I have seen this classical ballet before and always find it to be very entertaining. There is a lot of humor in it. The green floral costumes of the fairies are the most beautiful tutus I have ever seen…. I NEED one just to have it! Everyone did an incredible job, but the crowd was blown away by Takumi Miyake who danced the role of Puck. His speed, height of his jumps, and the strength of his movements were so impressive. I haven’t seen such talent since Danii Simkin. I wore this elegant black off-the-shoulder gown that I have been eyeing for over a year. I sipped champagne while walking along the balcony of the theater. It was an incredible New York night.
While I enjoy a little Hocus Pocus and chocolate candy, Halloween isn’t a holiday that I just have to celebrate. I will dress up if the occasion arises, but I do not seek it out. I am also not a fan of horror movies. This year for Halloween I worked and had a blast handing out candy to the UES kids. Yes, in New York the kids trick-o-treat at stores, bars, as well as apartments. The kids were so cute and I have some really funny stories of the things they said or did. One girl in particular did not care for the Swedish gummies we were handing out and she threw it back in. We were all cracking up over it! There was another little girl who was dressed up as Madeline and she stole our hearts. The most popular costume, however, was Michael Jackson. I loved it!
Wednesday evening after work I went downtown to the East Village to the new British-style fish and chips restaurant Chippy’s for the Boden event. They were showcasing their party/holiday line. Lots of gorgeous jeweled-toned velvet pieces, feathered finishings, and rhinestone touches. I ran into a few people I knew and spent the evening chatting with them while eating french fries. I, unfortunately, was unable to eat anything else, but the french fries were amazing! Chippy’s isn’t opened yet, but will soon!
What I am watching: THE GILDED AGE IS BACK!!!!! Yes our favorite rich ladies of Fifth Ave. are back and better than ever. I thought the first episode was incredible! It was firing on all cylinders. Not a single storyline was boring, each one was exciting! I need Bertha back in New York. I need Clock Twink to become even more successful. I need Marian and Larry to finally get together. And most importantly, I need Oscar and Enid to terrorize the city. I can’t wait!
I watched the first episode of the 3-part docuseries The One with Matthew Perry on Netflix. I still can’t believe he is gone, and still upset he is. He deserved better. The first episode talks mostly about his upbringing, how he got into showbiz, and of course, him landing the role of Chandler Bing. It was a really great, interesting, and sad first episode.
What I bought: I bought little bit of this and that. With the holiday season starting, I have been looking at a few decorations. I bought this vintage Christmas tree art that I can’t wait to display on the shelf above my tv. This is a piece that I will have, and display, for the rest of my life. Next I bought these ballet flats in clay for work. Lastly I bought these straight leg jeans. I haven’t tried them on yet, but hoping they fit because I like the wash, and that it is has a zipper closure and no distress detailing.
