“She liked to be alone; she liked to be herself”

-Virginia Woolf

Happy Friday! Lights, camera, action, weddings! This week was filled with movie stars and bridal gowns, and some Easter candy in between.

Did you have a lovely Easter? I went to church then spent the rest of the day watching documentaries, bought flowers, and had a brownie. Not too shabby of a day. Church was lovely as always. Unfortunately I got caught in the rain on my way home. I wore an old Kate Spade pink suit that has been a go-to of mine for years now.

The other day I was looking up at the moon, all I could think about were the astronauts and felt a little emotional about the whole exploration. I watched the live stream of Artemis II circling the moon. How extraordinary! I did have it in my head that they were going to get closer, but still was in awe of what we all saw. It’s remarkable that we are able to live stream in space for us all to see. These are the moments when I love technology. Anyway, I’ve been enjoying looking at all of NASA’s photos, and all the photos from the Artemis crew. I got a little teary-eyed when they named a crater Carroll after Reid Wiseman’s late wife. Upon hearing that I instantly thought of my favorite scene in It’s a Wonderful Life when George Banks walks Mary home and tells her he will lasso the moon for her. Beautiful.

Besides geeking out over the loveliness of the moon, I had an eventful week. Monday evening I went to One Vanderbilt to view the Vera Wang x David’s Bridal collection. It is currently Bridal Fashion Week here in New York, so lots of ateliers are showcasing seasonal gowns. The collection was pretty! I really liked this drop waist satin and tulle gown; the train looked lovely as the model walked around. Besides looking at wedding gowns, I chatted with a friend of mine who was also there, looked out onto the beautiful NYC skyline, and had lots of caviar and lobster.

I filmed another movie as a background actor for a streaming service this past week. It was an over night shoot on Wednesday. My call time was 7pm and I didn’t get home until a quarter till 6am. I am very tired still. We shot the movie in Jersey by the arena for the NHL hockey team, Devils. They shot two separate scenes, but I am only in one of them. Which was fine by me… it was extremely cold outside. We were wearing spring-like jackets in 20 degree weather. I had LOTS of layers on and hand warmers in my pockets, and was still shivering cold. While they shot the scene I wasn’t in, I sat in holding for a few hours reading. Once I was called onset, we filmed for 4 hours outside. Not sure if I ever want to do another overnight shoot again, but it was a fun experience. Also great to see the two actors (whom I LOVE) act out a very important scene!! I loved that I got to contribute to this scene. Once it is out, I will promote it on my IG stories!!

What I am watching: As mentioned I watched a few documentaries. The first being Inside The Manosphere on Netflix. It follows prominent men on the social media; podcasts, Youtube, TikTok, etc. Their platforms are to try to teach men how to be “real men”, yet what they are really teaching is misogyny. Toxic masculinity. I think their intentions of teaching young boys and men to go after their dreams, up level themselves daily, be active, work hard, etc. is great. That is how they hook them. However, they then go on to push a narrative that is dangerous towards women (promoting violence and rape). They push racial ideologies. They do things for clout; streaming violent or sexual situations just for likes and views. The saddest part was seeing young teenage boys walking up to these men saying how much they loved and admired them. I think it’s worth seeing to understand what is really going on, but it’s a hard watch. No wonder there is a male loneliness epidemic.

The other documentary I watched was a complete opposite, Rory McIlroy: The Masters Wait on Prime. I love Rory and was happy to see him finally win the Masters last year. The documentary takes you through Rory’s struggle over the years trying to win the Masters and to complete the grand slam. It also talks about his mindset and preparation before, during, and after the Masters. It was inspiring to watch!

I watched Young Sherlock on Prime starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin (Colin Firth is also in it). I really enjoyed the series! It’s peculiar, creative, and entertaining. They do, what I call, the “Matrix effect”; which is when they have someone or something in slow motion then it speeds up. I always like that effect, I find it interesting. Anyway, I loved the series and hope it’s picked up for a second season!

What I bought: I didn’t buy anything new but was gifted these firming eye patches that help depuff and lift the lid. What I love about these eye patches compared to others is that it goes all around the eye, not just the bottom. That way you are targeting the lid of your eyes as well, something that is neglected. I was also gifted this lavender and peppermint natural hand wash. It smells amazing!
