-Louisa May Alcott
Happy Friday! Just call me “bear” the way I am hibernating until the spring. This weather is offensive. Perfect, however, to stay inside cuddled under a blanket and read.
The sun did come out a little this past week and I took advantage of it by going for a long walk. One thing I love about New York is how often it changes. Even being gone for 2 weeks I was amazed by how much has changed within my neighborhood; new restaurants, construction, stoop decor, etc. There is always something new and exciting to see!
Wednesday evening I went back to the Joyce Theater as a volunteer usher. I started volunteering sometime last summer and have really enjoyed it. I help prep the programs and lead the patrons to their seats. Then I get to watch the performance. Not a bad gig! Anyway, this week (and next) is Sons of Echo. A curated contemporary and classical dance performance by Daniil Simkin– who was one of my favorite principal dancers at the American Ballet Theatre (no longer with the company, now at Staatsballett Berlin). He has beautiful jumps and turns.
The program consisted of 5 pieces choreographed by Tiler Peck, Lucinda Childs, Drew Jacoby, and Anne Plamondon. The first piece, called The Class, was a real treat to see. Upon the patrons arriving they had two ballet barres out on stage where the 5 male dancers were warming up. Then they had “class”; doing combinations (tendus, cabrioles, pirouette à la seconde, etc) in the center. The ballet master, Tomas Karlborg, instructed the 20 min ballet class for all of us to see. We were allowed to take photos and videos, which I did. It was fun to watch these principal dancers casually perform, make mistakes, joke around. It was a lot of fun!
My other favorite piece was NOTES choreographed by Lucinda Childs. It was beautiful! The three men- Jeffrey Cirio, Osiel Gouneo, Alban Lendorf- were phenomenal! Wearing large white pants and no shirt, their bodies beautifully formed graceful movements and shapes. I was especially impressed by Osiel Gouneo. His movements were so elegant; the simple flow of his arms. He was lovely to watch. The entire show was incredible and I highly recommend seeing it! At the Joyce Theater until January 25th.
What I am watching: Last weekend I watched People We Meet On Vacation. The new Emily Henry book to Netflix movie adaptation. I LOVED it!! I thought it was just as good as the book. It’s been a few years since I read it, so can’t really say if they took anything out. At least nothing of importance, not enough where I realized it. I thought Emily Bader and Tom Blythe did a great job as Poppy and Alex. Poppy’s outfits were amazing as well! Will be thinking about that gorgeous chartreuse slip dress for a while.
The Traitors is back and just as messy as ever! I hate how attracted I am to Rob R from Love Island. I’ve never seen Love Island but I can pick out an F-Boy from a mile away, but here we are. He is a charming, good looking guy that is doing an excellent job in the competition. Anyway, I am sad for that *one* elimination! I was hoping *they* would last longer!! I also need the faithfuls or the traitors to get Michael Rapaport out of there. He never stops talking, very obnoxious.
Also this past week I binged watched the new Netflix mini thriller series His and Hers starring Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal. I have two episodes left and I am pretty sure I know who the killer is. However, I really enjoyed the series and how it’s played out!
What I bought: I wanted a new pair of gold hoop earrings and ended up buying these pretty pearl ones. These are ones that I will wear for years. I also needed new black ankle boots. The ones I currently have have seen better days. I ended up getting these glossy black ones and love them! Been wearing them with a few outfits here and there.

This weekend I have nothing on the agenda. It’s suppose to snow all weekend, which will be lovely to watch from the comfort of my bedroom window. Perhaps I’ll venture outside to meet up with friends. Other than that I will read my book and stay warm and cozy inside.
