“The most important thing is to enjoy your life- to be happy- it’s all that matters”
-Audrey Hepburn
Happy Friday! It’s a bittersweet week as it’s my last week being in my 30s. I’ve have had mixed feelings about stepping into a new decade of my life. While age is just a number, it’s hard to believe I am 40 years old. I still feel (and hopefully look) young, but I know I am at the beginning of growing old.
I now understand how someone would have a mid-life crisis. While I am not having one, or maybe I am in my own way, I understand the confusion of being middle age.You still feel young, but you also know that you are at the end of your youth. You want to hold onto that. Don’t worry I am not going to go out and buy a Lamborghini or jump out of an airplane, but I did go through a little spiral of wondering if this or that is mature enough for my age. Should I give up the mini skirt? My conclusion is no. I see a few more wrinkles, some grey hairs, and aches and pains throughout my body. I try to remind myself that growing older is a privilege. This may seem frivolous, which it is, but those have been my thoughts.
On top of that I’ve been evaluating where I am in life. I never thought I would be single and childless at 40. I’ve always wanted to be a mother, a wife. It just hasn’t happened for me yet. I am at peace, or trying to be, with whatever trajectory my life takes. If it’s meant to be it will be. While I am not going to stop looking or wanting, I am filling my cup with self love, family, and things that interest me.
While I can’t articulate the million other thoughts running through my head about turning 40, I can say that I am going to really miss my 30s. I loved my 30s! I got to experience some amazing things; fashion week, trips, love, friendships, growth in my business, being in magazines, tv shows, movies, and more. It wasn’t always smooth. There were lots of turbulence, breakdowns, and heartbreak, but I wouldn’t give any of it up. My 30s have been the best years of my life thus far. I am excited to see what my 40s bring.
I am leaving my 30s with quite a bang. All day Monday and Tuesday I was on set as a background actor for the Devil Wears Prada 2!!! I can’t disclose any information about the scene we shot, who was in it, or the location. What I can say that it was the most thrilling, surreal moment of my life. It feels like a fever dream now. My call time for both days were 5:30am, where they did my hair and makeup. My outfit was my own wardrobe, approved by them. We wrapped around 5/5:30pm. It was very tiring to shoot for 12 hours, but so worth it. I had the best time!! I met so many wonderful people (fellow background actors), as well as seeing some great actors perform, and some wonderful celebrity sightings! I absolutely love being a background actor and hope to continue. While I do not want to be an actor with dialogue (outside of maybe one or two lines), I enjoy acting out a character in the background. I enjoy being on set and seeing how movies and tv shows are made. I can’t call myself a real actor yet, not until I do the right of passage by being in Law and Order. I really want to play a stripper or a sex worker. I am also dying to be in the Gilded Age; I want to be in a period piece so I can dress up!
Besides clearly winning an Oscar for my pantomiming, a lot of other wonderful things happened this week. I have accepted a few new collaborations that I will be able to share with you in the next few weeks. I am also stepping into a new venture that is very exciting!! I can’t really talk about it yet, but I am very much looking forward to starting this journey.
The rest of my week was pretty much about catching up on some sleep (getting up at 3am is not for the faint of heart), as well as work stuff.
What I am watching: I watched the Netflix movie La Dolce Villa starring Scott Foley and Maia Reficco. I absolutely adore Scott Foley (hello fellow Felicity fans!) so really enjoyed this one! It’s a cute movie; a little Hallmark-ish. Made me want to move to Europe and buy a villa.
What I bought: Last weekend I did my favorite Saturday afternoon ritual of going to the book store, then strolling through the Union Square Greenmarket. I ended up buying 2 new books: The Women by Kristin Hannah, and It’s a Love Story by Annabel Monaghan. To celebrate my birthday I bought this pretty floral dress to wear to dinner.

This weekend my parents are coming into town to celebrate my birthday. Originally I was going to have a party, but after talking to my friends I realized majority of them will either be in the Hamptons or Europe. Tough life they have… haha! Anyway, I will be celebrating with just my parents, then will have a nice dinner with friends later in the week. With my parents we are going to go see The Outsiders!! I have been dying to see it since the Tony Awards last year! Also Tavern On The Green for dinner, and some other NYC stuff. Then Sunday evening I am going to the US Open! It’s going to be a great weekend!!
Have a wonderful weekend xo
