“To reach a higher level of being, you must assume a higher concept of yourself”

-Neville Goddard

Happy Friday! It’s another rainy weekend here in New York. You think it was April instead of January. While I do not mind a rainy day here and there, I am ready for some sunshine. I am ready for spring.

While the weather may be miserable, my week was not. Monday was my monthly book club gathering with Guest of a Guest. We gathered at The Whitby Hotel again. The book we read was “Wine People” By Michelle Wildgen. Amongst my fellow book clubbers it was mixed reviews. For me it was one of those books I appreciated more upon reflecting back than while reading. I am not much of a foodie, and while I do drink wine I couldn’t care less where it comes from. Not the most sophisticated response, but it’s the truth. However, looking back on the book I found it interesting how the author covered every sector of the wine industry. It’s also about much more than just trips to Europe for wine tasting. Anyway, the event was fun and I am loving how well I am getting to know some of the other book club regulars. I wore this beautiful vintage looking dress from Buru— that I get SO many compliments on.

I went back to New York Pilates this past week. I am really enjoying getting back into pilates. I feel stronger in different ways– especially my core. It was a good workout but I had one too many glasses of champagne the night before at my book club. I was definitely struggling a little. Anyway, the class was great and I am excited to go back soon!

The rest of my week was all about work and wellness. I had a doctor’s appointment; an annual check-up. I seem to be healthy which is great! I also had a photoshoot with my photographer Lauren. I have not seen Lauren since her baby shower last July!! I miss chatting with her while we shoot. I shot 4 outfits and can’t wait to share!

What I am watching: The Bachelor is back! I am actually excited to watch Joey’s journey. I think the last time I was excited for The Bachelor was Pilot Pete’s season (which ended with me not liking Peter anymore). The Bachelor is my least favorite show of the franchise. Always has been. I much prefer The Bachelorette and BIP. Anyway, if Joey doesn’t pick Daisy I want her to be the next Bachelorette. She is a walking Hallmark movie and I love her! The rest of the ladies are there for dramatic entertainment at this point.

Last weekend I watched Maestro. I was hesitant to watch at first because the reviews were so mixed- heavily leaning towards being boring. However, I loved it! I found it to be very entertaining; witty, heartbreaking, theatrical. It may help that I enjoy listening to classical music. I will say it’s a drama but there are certain elements that resemble a musical– the transitioning of scenes. A few of my favorite parts is when they watched On The Town being performed on stage (one of my favorite movies) and when he conducted Mahler’s ‘Resurrection’ Symphony at the end. Unpopular opinion: I think Bradley Cooper should be winning all of the best lead actor awards. Although I do think Oppenheimer is a great film and Cillian Murphy did an excellent job, in my opinion Bradley Cooper deserves it more. He completely embodied Leonard Bernstein, learned to conduct, and showed a wide range in his acting.

Another show I am watching is Break Point on Netflix. It’s the 2nd season of the docuseries following professional tennis players through the 4 major grand slams. Even if you are not a tennis fan I still think this would be of interest. It’s fascinating to see how each player prepares, what they go through, and watching them play. I find the mental health aspect of each player to be the most fascinating. How your mentality really plays the key role in winning. It’s a great lesson to learn in life. You will never achieve anything with the wrong mindset. Anyway, I mostly enjoy watching the Americans, of course, but it has been great getting to know all of the up and coming players.

What I bought: I finally bought taper candles to put on the shelf above my tv console. It’s one of those things that I was lazily shopping for, not making it a top priority. Then months later I am still candle-less. I ended up buying these taper candles in light pink for only $3. Next I bought a new throw blanket. This was an impulse buy. I just woke up one day and decided I want to change up my blanket to add more color to my couch. I actually really like the grey blanket I have from Allswell. However, I was tired of seeing the grey on grey, so bought this throw blanket in sky blue— currently on sale and under $40.

Last but not least I bought a new book to read. It’s the final book of A League of Extraordinary Women series by Evie Dunmore. If you like historical fiction and romance books, I highly suggest this series! It’s SO good! I have loved each individual book. The final book is called “The Gentleman’s Gambit”.

Top Seller: This beautiful dress for either a wedding, Valentine’s day, or party

This weekend I have nothing on the agenda. I was suppose to meet up with a friend for brunch, but we had to reschedule for another date. I am sorta glad to just do nothing this weekend. To do as I please. I will, however, watch The Grammys! I am excited to see what Taylor Swift wears. Oh and to start watching Feud: Capote vs. His Swans— it’s going to be so chic and scandalous. I am have been a big admirer of CZ Guest for a long time.
