As someone who has such adoration for fashion, it’s joyful to me when new brands emerge on my radar. It’s a chance to explore new styles, play with prints, and gain inspiration from. I discover brands either from social media, blogs, fashion magazines, or shopping online. Every year there new brands creating waves in the fashion industry– some may not be my aesthetics and some are perfectly made for my style. Here are 5 brands that have sparked my interest this past year.

paskal

PASKAL

There is one word that can best describe Paskal: Art. It’s wearable artwork. From laser cut floral garments to two-toned mesh fabrics, I was in awe of the beauty of PASKAL clothing. From the Ukraine, Julie Paskal launched her collection in 2016. Originally an architect, Paskal transforms clothing into structural, abstract works of art. The main components are shapes, lines, structures, and nature. I can’t wait to get my hands on an item or two!

bytimo

byTiMo

Although byTiMo was created in 2004 by Tine Mollatt, it’s really starting to pick up steam- especially in a time where sustainability is most sought after. byTiMo is a sustainable brand that uses recyclable fabrics like viscose (which is made out of trees, but don’t worry- for every one they take down, they plant three more). They also recycle the water used to create dyes and prints so the water does not pollute rivers, etc. But besides helping with the environment, byTiMo style is modern romance. What struck me with this brand is the delicate fabrics (like organza and chiffon) and patterns of each clothing item. Whether it’s a floral print or lace detailing, it’s feminine and beautiful.

stine goya

Stine Goya

I recently wore this dress from Stine Goya and received a lot of compliments. I love the mix-match of the print and the enormous ruffle down the middle. Stine Goya (a Danish brand create by Stine Goya) is about dramatics, color, and femininity. From puffy sleeves to ladylike wraps to cozy sweaters, each item has a flamboyant detailing that makes a statement. Stine Goya is not for the minimalist at heart; it’s playful and expressive, yet still has the allure of femininity and delicacy.

rotate

Rotate by Birger Christensen

The bigger the sleeves the better… at least in my opinion. Rotate by Birger Christensen is the talk of the town right now. Every time I am on social media I am seeing someone wear a piece from the collection. I am madly in love with this dress that I am hoping to get my hands on in any color or print. Another Danish brand, Rotate by Birger Christensen specializes in dresses that are inspired by the 80’s with a modern twist- metallics, statement sleeves, and playful patterns.

Staud

Staud, co-founded by Sarah Staudinger and George Augusto, has been one to really watch. The brand first came to my attention with the most-sought-after handbag of the moment. After realizing Staud also creates clothing- I was gone. sold. This was becoming a brand I will turn to whenever I needed a new outfit. There is a timeless retro-esque feminine style to their clothing. They play around with structure and print, but do not shy away from minimalistic look. I am excited to see future collections of Staud and what pieces I will be coveting over.
