A few months ago my mom was in town visiting me. I had an event over the weekend that I took her to; happy to have her experience what I do. Before heading to the event I was having one of those I have nothing to wear moments. My mom, as moms do, swoops in and saves the day by letting me wear her new gingham two-piece set from J.McLaughlin. Yes I am wearing my mother’s clothes to an event, but truthfully I would buy/wear this myself. Gingham is ageless and so are these two pieces.

Both sold separately, they can be paired with a variety of other items. Gingham is versatile in that way. Pair these pants with a denim top or a colorful blouse, and pair this shell top with jeans or.a skirt. Although there are lots of fun ways to style both the top and the bottom, there is something so chic and classic about wearing gingham head to toe. There is this Audrey Hepburn vibe I feel while wearing gingham, especially as a two-pice set.

What I love most about this look is that I can wear it well into the fall and continue to wear the pieces separately during the crisp seasons. Gingham, although mostly dubbed a summer seasonal print, can be worn in the fall and spring. And you know this style is timeless so you will be wearing both pieces for years to come. Huge thank you to my mom for having great style and for letting me raid her closet– even when she doesn’t know it.
