Father's-Day-Gift-Guide

We celebrated our moms a few weeks ago, now it is time to celebrate the greatest man you will ever know! Next weekend is Father’s Day and I have put together a little gift guide for you. If you are like me you usually have no idea what to get your dad for, well, any occasion. However, I do try to find something meaningful between the two of us. One year I got him a tall glass with a vintage bicycle on it because we love to ride our bikes together.  This year I have a gift in mind, one that I know will mean a lot to him……. I can’t tell you now, he may read this!

My dad is the greatest man I have ever known. I am not saying this because he is my dad, I am saying it because he really is a man among men. Makes it a little hard finding a guy who can live up to the type of man my dad is. He is caring, smart, funny, and is good at everything. He loves to paint and draw– we have a bunch of his artwork framed around our house. The man taught me to play every sport. Coached my teams and helped me in the backyard to practice. He never missed a single dance recital or competition. The poor man probably knows more about tutu’s and leotards than he ever thought possible. .If I could give one piece of advice to new father’s with daughters— get into whatever they are into. That is how you will connect. My dad will watch some of the TV shows my sister and I like so we can talk about it– even if he finds them to be dumb. I will also ask his opinion on outfits and he will give me an honest answer.

Out of everything he has done for me, the biggest, and most important, part of myself that is from him (and my mom) is my character.  I have learned to respect myself and others around me. To be humble and proud of who I am and where I come from. To act with dignity and love. To work hard for what I want in life. To have fun and not always take everything so serious.   I am who I am today because he was (and still is) an important person in my life.

My dad is someone you can count on when you need him. Whether you are a friend, brother, daughter, my mom, or even a stranger, he is there for you. I think what makes me so proud to be my dad’s daughter is knowing that so many people love and respect him. It shows a lot about a person when friends, family, and co-workers adore them. I am sad I will not be with my dad on Father’s Day, but I know he knows I love him very much.
