“Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life”

-Golda Meir

Happy Friday!! Another week, another drama. I have been experiencing an abnormal amount of inflammation. I am starting to feel like the boy who cried wolf, but my problems are real. First I had rosacea on my face, then my left shoulder hurt, then I got plantar fasciitis in my left foot, and now I have pain from my right knee all the way to my hip. Tune in next week when I grow a third arm.

Somehow, someway I hurt my knee. It started to hurt on Monday when walking to Hu Kitchen where I spent the afternoon working from. I had cancelled my morning workout, still nursing my foot from last week, so it was a big surprise when my knee was aching. By that evening I could barely stand the pain. It kept me up all night as I iced it. In fact every night I have had only 4 hours of sleep. No matter what position I put my legs in, my right leg was in agony. Tuesday morning I went to workout hoping that movement would subside the pain. After my workout I could barely walk home, nor put my foot down. But oddly enough by the time I got home the pain was gone and I was able to walk.  Even at night when it hurt so much that I can’t take it, I walk around the living room and it usually calms down. God only knows. I spent the rest of the week icing, stretching, foam rolling my leg. Since I figured it was inflammation and different parts of my body are being targeted by it, I looked up foods that could be the cause. I rarely eat processed foods, drink socially, and only have a little bit of sugar.  I also eat more anti-inflammatory foods than not, so I ruled it out. Then it dawned on my I have been taking antibiotics for my perioral dermatitis. I immediately stopped taking them, hoping this was the culprit. It’s been a few days and still the pain sustains. Yesterday I went to CryoEmpire to do the NormaTec leg recovery boot. For those of you who may have never heard of NormaTec– you are strapped into boots that go all the way up to your hips. They remind me of goalie pads in hockey. Anyway, the boots compress and pulse your muscles. It’s basically an intense massage. I sat there for about 30 minutes watching Friends while the boots worked it’s magic. I will have to say my leg does feel a lot better and I felt a ton of knots releasing in my knee and thigh. Mid-afternoon I was working/ getting ready for an event, I sometimes sit with one leg on the floor and the other on my bed, so I am half on and off the bed. Anyway, I cracked my hip a few times (on purpose). That helped and felt good, so I am thinking my hip was slightly out of socket for a few days? Who knows. It still feels achy but the pain is not half as bad. Last week when my foot hurt I embraced the relaxing week off of working out, this week I was frustrated. I want to move, dance, run. I hate sitting still for too long. Hopefully next week I will be 100% better and am able to get back into working out!

Besides my agony, this week was filled with lots of events. Starting with last Saturday as I attended Marie Claire’s BFF brunch with Sephora. I had THE best time! I didn’t know a single soul there. There were Vloggers, media from Hearst, celebrity makeup artists, representatives from different PR agencies, owners of nail salons, etc. It was a very small intimate group and I loved getting to know people whom I may not of it the invite list was different. I LOVE my fellow bloggers here in New York, do not get me wrong, but it is refreshing to meet other people in other similar industries.

Tuesday night CMD Creative invited me to Frozen on Broadway. My friend Elena, from A New York Love Affair, went to the show with me.  IT WAS SO GOOD!! The set design and light effects were incredible– blew my mind. I felt as if I were actually in a Disney movie! You have to see Frozen if you get the chance. The performers were amazing and the play was pretty funny. It’s like Shrek– entertaining for kids, but also has adult humor. It’s the same story line and songs, but a few songs were added. I can’t stop thinking about the play and how wonderful it was! Before the play Elena and I went to Bar Bacon to eat an early dinner. Bar Bacon is a restaurant that has, well, bacon in every item on the menu. It was good and highly suggested.

Thursday I attended a few events in honor of International Women’s Day. My first event was bareMinerals x While We Were Young restaurant. They did our makeup while we sipped on mocktails. I didn’t stay long at the event as I had a lot of work to do and a few events that evening, but it was lovely. That night I went to the Elizabeth Arden event where they were debuting their new red lipstick in collaboration with Reese Witherspoon. I was bummed Reese was not there, but probably for the best as I most likely  would have ended up in jail for hugging her and not letting go.  At the event we were able to send lipstick to anyone who inspires us. I sent mine to my sister Amanda who is an incredible mother and deserve a little red lip and a night out. After Elizabeth Arden I headed over to the Old Navy event. The entire place was filled with flowers and you were able to create your own perfume. I did not do that as it was overly crowded in that area, but love the idea. I ended up just chit-chatted with friends and had the best time!

This weekend I do not have any plans, which I am grateful for. I am going to attempt to workout but “modify” the movements, and I say that loosely because I know I won’t. I am also planning on actually getting some sleep since I have barely slept all week. Hope you have a wonderful week xo
