“that was her magic, she could still see the sunset even on those darkest days”

– Atticus

Happy Friday!! New York Fashion Week has officially started and its already been one heck of a fun time! From events to shows to seeing old friends, NYFW is the most wonderful time of the year. This time around I treated fashion week a little differently, meaning I didn’t go all out in buying clothes like I do for the fall. I figure I have bought enough clothes this winter that I can mix and match for most of the shows. I did buy this top and this beret for the week (and to have in general). If this was the fall shows I would of have bought a new outfit for each day/event. The winter is a little different because you mostly keep your coat on as you run from show to show.

For those of you who may not know, in February designers and brands showcase their fall and winter looks for 2018/19. While in September they showcase their spring collection.

My fashion week started on Tuesday night when I got together with a few of my blogging friends for happy hour at Sugar East. The happy hour was hosted by Kaitlyn from NYC Girl in Pearls. I had fun catching up with some people whom I have not seen in a while. It was a no stress, easy way to ease into the craziness of fashion week. My official start to NYFW, however, was Thursday. My first stop was getting my hair done by Redken and my makeup done by Maybelline at the Howard Hotel. I shared my final look (beach waves) on Insta Stories (@blushandblooms), so hopefully you saw the amazing work of the two! Seriously could not do it on my own and look that good ha. The morning was fun getting pampered, chatting with friends, eating lunch, and drinking mimosas. Not a bad start to the day! After being glamorized I headed over to the Tadashi runway show. The collection was evening gowns with lots of sequined, asymmetrical looks. After Tadashi I rushed over to the Pamella Roland runway show. Once again she blew me away with her beautiful ball gowns and impeccable detailed designs. After the shows I went home to do a little work before heading out to The Shoe Box event. Today my schedule is  a little lighter. I have an event with Bollare in the afternoon and Nicole Miller this evening. This weekend I have a few shows like Tibi, Claudia Li, and more. I am also going backstage with Redken for the Tanya Taylor presentation!! I am SO excited for it!! Next week will be filled with more shows and events!

Although I love fashion week I am bummed it is during the Olympics! The Olympic committee should of have checked my calendar to see if I was available to watch while scheduling times….. ugh, oh well. I LOVE the Olympics! I have the opening ceremonies recorded for tonight in case I miss the beginning as I rush home from the show. My favorite winter sports are figure skating, speed skating, freestyle skiing, and hockey. GO USA!!!

On a completely random note my friend introduced me to HQ. Kind of obsessed. It’s a virtual reality, international trivia game where you play twice a day at set times (for NYC thats 3pm and 9pm EST). Everyone plays at the exact same time. You have 12 questions to answer (you have only 10 seconds to answer) and if you get them all right you win money! If you get a question wrong you are eliminated from this round of questions. The first time I played I was eliminated after 4 questions and was very disappointed to learn I did not win any money for answering just 4 questions. Apparently this is not an everyone gets a trophy type of game. I am determined to win a round or two!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend XO
