Since you all are my closest friends, I would like to tell you how I have really grown and involved lately. Growing up I hated denim. I refused to wear jeans until middle school and jean shorts until last year. I had a denim skirt in high school and then refused to wear this style until two years ago when I bought a white denim skirt from J.Crew. That skirt, however, was so soft it did not even feel like denim. This high-waisted skirt I would mark as my rekindled style.

I am sure you are all still stuck on me saying I hate denim fabric,  it’s true. It is too rough and uncomfortable for my liking. I was always (and still am) a dress wearing type of gal. When I wear jeans now they are usually a softer denim. So why change my tune? I don’t think it is necessarily about changing my thoughts on denim than I am about the look. I have noticed a change in my style over the past year or so. I will always have a classic, feminine style, but I find myself trying to push past my comfort zone and try trends. Denim skirts have been around for decades I know, but I feel their popularity comes and goes. Right now they are a must have item and I agree on the need to have one.

I used to think denim skirts were for the edgy, trendy people but now I believe they are perfect for every style: preppy, feminine, trendy, edgy, masculine, sleek, casual. When I was looking for a new pair to buy I knew I wanted it to be high waisted (because I live a high-waist or die type of life), and it must not have any rips what so ever on it. I am going to sound old when I say this– I hate ripped denim. I don’t understand why pay for something that is ripped. It looks unkept. Ok, end of rant. Back to my new found love. I am pretty excited to wear my denim skirt throughout the fall. I paired it here with this floral top that I am obsessed with! This outfit is perfect to transition into the colder temperatures– if that ever happens.
