It’s hard to believe Easter is next week when there is a snowstorm currently happening in New York. Nevertheless a little cold weather will not stop me from wearing a spring dress on Easter day. It’s the first of the season to wear florals and pastel colored dresses.

When I was little I refused to wear pants. Let me rephrase that… I wore leggings as pants but nothing else. Jeans were my worst enemy as they were not comfortable at all. Stiff as a board. If I had to wear jeans it was a battle with my mom that I ultimately lost. I only wanted to wear dresses. I loved the freedom and comfort of dresses. It didn’t matter if it were a casual or my Sunday best, I was in love with wearing dresses.
A few weeks ago while I was doing a style photoshoot my photographer Lauren mentioned that I was the first client of hers to pull out a basket bag. What can I say? I am over winter and ready for spring! Basket bags are a summer and spring staple piece. A bag that you can never have too many of. I remember as a kid loving to play with both of my grandmother’s basket bags. Cute clutches and top handles my one grandmother would take as she summered in Florida for the winter season. My other grandmother had a particular bag that would make a chirping noise when she walked. She told my sister and me that there was a baby bird in her purse but we weren’t allowed to see it because the little birdie was always sleeping. Obviously now I understand it was just the handle making noise, but as a 4 year old my grandmother was like Snow White to me.
With a little glimpse of spring we have had on and off here in New York, it has me thinking about April showers. Spring season calls for either a classic trench coat or an everyday rain coat. Either way you want to look chic while getting soaking wet. This season I want to change up my rain gear. One item that is missing from my wardrobe is a nice rain coat. I am thinking this yellow one from Barbour would be a perfect, sunny addition. I have owned a trench coat from J.Crew for many years and love it, but it definitely is starting to show its wear and tear. When I am ready to purchase a new one I want an investment piece like this timeless Burberry trench coat.
