“Romanticize the little things in life until your whole life feels like art”

Happy Friday! Thank goodness it’s the weekend. After a busy and tiring, yet fun week, I am ready for some R&R.
I spent two days on set for a new mini series on a streaming service. It was a long, but exciting two days. We filmed in Manhattan (Nolita), so I didn’t need to travel very far. Which was really lovely in and of itself. We did interior and exterior shoots, which I was a part of both. I actually preferred the exterior shoot because it was such a nice day out yesterday, it felt good to get some fresh air. There are times when you are shooting a film or a tv show where you will be in holding for long periods of time. Sometimes you may never make it on set at all or you shoot for only 5 minutes. That was the case for me yesterday. I think I spent 6 hours in holding reading my book, waiting to be called on set. Wednesday, however, I spent much more time on set. Honestly, I didn’t mind being in holding that long. I enjoyed reading my book, and chatting with my fellow background friends.
There is no rhyme or reason for why you may or may not be called on set. Sometimes you are in the section of the set that isn’t being film at the moment so they don’t need you. It could be that they have too many females or blondes or 30/40 years olds on set and they need to diversify it. They pick people who either blend in the best in the shot or work aesthetically well together. Sometimes I am paired with people- a couple or in a group. Sometimes I am alone in walking down the street. It’s nothing personal, it just happens.
I can’t really talk about where we were, the scene, or the actors, since I am under an NDA. However, there were 3 actors on set that I was very excited to see and witness acting. And an up and coming broadway star that I recently saw perform. The location was absolutely stunning. An old building that has been there since the 1800s. The architecture was truly stunning.
The rest of my week was a typical work week; creating content, meetings, etc. Nothing too exciting to chit-chat about.
What I am watching: I binged watched The Narrow Road to the Deep North on Prime starring Jacob Elordi. It came out last year; a mini series based on the same titled book, only 5 episodes. It’s about an Australian combat medic in WWII who becomes a POW. Captured by the Japanese, they were forced to build the Thailand-Burma railroad, aka “Death Railway”. Based on true stories the author heard about the Australian POWs, but the story and characters are fictional. We follow Dorrigo (Jacob Elordi) through the war and when he is in his elderly years being awarded as a war hero. The show, I thought, was both devastating and beautiful in ways. There are some very brutal, and sickening, scenes that were hard to get through. The kind that made me turn away, close my eyes, and cover my ears. However, there is a love story attached to it, the scenes are beautifully shot, and you witness the camaraderie that prisoners have with one another. I think what I liked most about it is learning of Australians involvement in the war. To be honest I have never really thought much of it. I, obviously, knew they were a part of the war, as being a member of the Commonwealth. I just never knew to what extent, especially knowledge of building railroads and bridges for the Japanese.
What I bought: I ended up getting this cute yellow stripe matching set (top and skirt). I am excited to wear it this spring and summer; to throw on during the weekends to run errands or out to brunch with friends. I also got these beautiful blue and green drop earrings; wanting to add more color to my accessories.

This weekend I currently have nothing planned. I am waiting to hear back from casting to see if I will be filming a scene for another tv show tomorrow. Usually I do not hear until late afternoon. If I am not filming then I will be, hopefully, enjoying being outside and frolicking around. I do see it may rain, unfortunately, so my weekend plans may turn into a Harry Potter marathon. We will see!
Enjoy your weekend xo
