“I have found beauty in the whimsically ordinary”
-Elissa Gregoire
Happy Friday! My week was filled with literature, fashion, and organization. A little bit of fun and a little bit of work.
I’ve been in a Marie Kondo mood lately. Decluttering everything from knick-knacks to clothes to makeup and more. I finally went through my collection of lipsticks and perfumes and got rid of the never been used and threw out the old. I sent lots of clothing items to ThredUp, The Real Real, and Goodwill. Still going through more clothes to donate. It’s little by little every week. I want to only keep the things I truly wear or use or enjoy.
Tuesday evening I went downtown to Alphabet City for an event at Waiting on a Friend with Jenna Bush Hager’s new media company, A Thousand Voices. The event was to celebrate the soon-to-launch (April 7th) book, Into The Blue by Emma Brodie. This was my first time at the bar, and really liked the disco balls hanging from the ceiling. They served pizza and popcorn, but didn’t have either. However, I enjoyed a wonderful glass of prosecco. They had boxes of candy there for us to take home; a little nod to the story. I may have taken an extra box of M&Ms than I was suppose to…. Anyway, the event was lovely! I met a lot of new fellow book enthusiasts. I always enjoy book events because I hardly ever get to discuss literature with other people. It’s always fun to chat about books we have read or are currently reading.
Yesterday I went uptown to shop at Bergdorfs. I needed a little break and some fresh air so took off an hour or 2 to go shopping. I am still browsing for items to wear on vacation. Although I would say the outfits I tried on do not match the aesthetics of my trip, still I couldn’t resist. I need to go somewhere soon where I can wear this matching set (top and skirt). Obsessed!
What I am watching: I started season 3 of Shrinking. I have only seen the first two episodes, but I already love this season. This is such a great show! Funny, heartwarming, and sad at times.
I finished the second half of Bridgerton and I enjoyed it! I wish they included the wedding in the actual show and not after the credits. I had no idea until later when I saw people discussing it on social media. I had to go back and watch it. I enjoyed this season over all and am SO curious to know who the new Lady Whistledown is!
What I bought: For my vacation I bought these stripe pants with the matching top. It looks great together, but can create a bunch of other outfits mix and match with.
I also bought a new book for my trip. However I already started it so will have to find another one, oops! I also started, and am almost finished with, Belle Burden’s book Strangers: A Memoir of Marriage. It’s sorta the talk of the town. I think every woman at Barnes and Nobles were carrying it around while I was there the other day. Belle Burden is old New York. Her grandmother is Babe Paley. Grandfather a Mortimer. Her father is a Vanderbilt. The book is about her husband who abruptly leaves her during the pandemic. When I say my jaw is on the floor during the entire book, it’s not an exaggeration. I am bewildered by this man’s audacity.
