Happy Friday! I am sitting here bruised, cold, and slightly concussed. I hit my head yesterday on the corner of the medicine cabinet. While brushing my teeth I dropped a cotton ball. I bent down to pick it up, threw it away, then quickly turned to spit out toothpaste in the sink. Only the cabinet opened up without my knowledge and I smacked right into it. It wasn’t my finest moment.

After rinsing my mouth I looked into the mirror and shall blood gushing down from my eyebrow. Once I got the bleeding to stop, I was grateful to see it was only a small cut. Nothing serious enough to go to urgent care for. I spent the rest of the day icing my eye, trying to tame the swelling. Since hitting my head I have had a headache with shooting pain and eye twitching. I have also been a little light headed. So I think I am slightly concussed. However, I feel much better today and it looks much better. It’s not black and blue but it hurts to touch and move. And it’s still swollen. I am just grateful I didn’t hit my eye directly.

The rest of my week wasn’t so violent. I have mostly stayed inside avoiding the snowstorm and the cold temperature. By Tuesday I got a little cabin fever so went for a quick walk to get fresh air. I do enjoy the snow, but am not a winter person at all. Counting down the days until it is spring.

I did muster enough will power to get myself out of the apartment Wednesday evening. I went to SoHo for my first Cake event! They held an intimate gathering at the Freda Salvador store to celebrate Christine Morrison’s new book Clothes Minded: Fashionable Essays About Finding Yourself. They had a small panel discussion between Christine Morrison, Stacy London, and Megan Wilkinson Papay. One of the things that stuck with me from the discussion was Christine talking about how she is 56 years old, finally living her dreams after years and years of rejection. It’s nice to know it’s never too late to start a new venture, live your dream life, and recreate yourself. And that a rejection isn’t the end.

Besides the wonderful panel discussion, it was nice to meet some of the other Cake members. One of the girls that I was talking to I found out that she used to live in my building. On the floor above me. It’s wild to think that we never crossed paths while living in a small building, but here was are meeting at a random event. And we only started talking to each other because we both realized we were there alone. Life is funny! Anyway, I enjoyed a night of champagne, viewing Freda Salvador’s newest collection (eyeing these ballet flats in every color), and listening to inspiring women.

What I am watching: During the snow day I binged watch the new Netflix show Finding Her Edge. It’s about a family figuring skating team that is in financial trouble. Worlds is coming up and they need to win to help save the skating rink. It was an easy, fun watch. Perfect for a snowy day.

I also watched Netflix’s adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials starring Helena Bonham Carter, Mia Mckenna-Bruce, and some other familiar faces. I really enjoyed this one! I have not read the book, but assume the 3-part mini series followed it closely. There were a few twists and turns, but I wasn’t all too surprised with the ending. I had an inkling, but wasn’t 100% on board with the thought. Definitely worth a watch!

I am FINALLY watching The Golden Girls from start to finish for the first time. I know… I know. I am very late to the party. I have seen episodes here and there throughout the years, but never from start to finish. It really is such a wonderful show! I love every character. I am cracking up at every joke. It’s the perfect feel-good show to watch.

What I bought: The only thing I bought this past week was shampoo and conditioner. I needed to replenish my current bottles. I usually mix and match and switch up between the thickening and the gentle.

This weekend I may be going out to dinner with friends. We haven’t finalized plans yet. If we decide to cancel I will not protest, I truly am a hermit during the winter. Other than that I will be staying cozy and warm inside reading and watching Bridgerton.
