“To make living itself an art, that is the goal”
-Henry Miller
Happy Friday! After 2 wonderful weeks in Ohio, I was ready to get back to the city. Back to a routine, back to my home, and back to creating content. It was a nice, much needed time off(ish). However, I am ready for a new year and what may come.
For most of my time in Ohio I spent it with my family either watching movies with my parents or playing with my nieces. I luckily was able to go to my nieces’ winter dance recital. It was the first time I have been able to see their winter performance, and I was so beyond proud of them! They did an amazing job; knew their dances and smiled. Besides the recital I played games with them, my one niece did my makeup, and we took them out to dinner. It was so wonderful to spend so much time with them!
I went with my mom to see Wicked For Good at the movie theater. I really enjoyed it and thought they did a great job! The first act (first movie) is much better, but I loved what they did to keep act II interesting. With my parents I went out to eat around town to a few favorite restaurants. I also tried a new-to-me restaurant in town called Tupelo Honey. I ended up having the pan-seared salmon with sautéed greens. I thought it was good!
For Christmas Eve we went to the early church service that is tailored towards children. Afterwards we went to my sister’s house for dinner, then went over to our neighbor’s house for their annual Christmas Eve party. It was, as always, a lovely evening! For Christmas Day dinner my parents host the entire family; aunts, uncle, cousins. I love when we all get together! Santa was good to me this year, but no townhouse in the West Village nor a puppy…. maybe next year!
I spent New Year’s Eve celebrating with my family. I decided to extend my trip so I can watch the Ohio State game with them. I started the evening at the country club with my sister and my nieces for the kids NYE party. They had a bunch of crafts and games for the kids. Plus a DJ, face painting, a buffet, and a bar for us adults. Then they had a fake countdown while releasing a bunch of balloons onto the kids on the dance floor. I had a great time celebrating with them, and I know my nieces really enjoyed themselves! Then I went home to hangout with my parents to watch the game and the ball drop. It was all-in-all a good New Year’s Eve!
Since I have been back I have been mostly trying to catch up on work. I had a few collaborations that I worked on during the holidays and had to add some final touches to it before sending in my drafts.
What I am watching: As mentioned I watched a bunch of movies with my parents. We first watch F1 starring Brad Pitt. I thought it was ok. I am not a fan of race car, but thought it had some funny moments. And it was interesting to see behind the curtains of a race. Next we watched Family Plan 2 starring Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan. I thought it was really good! Just as funny and adventure packed as the first one. Lastly we watched Knives Out 3: Wake Up Dead Man. I would say I didn’t care for it really until Daniel Craig’s character showed up, then it starts to get interesting.
This past week I finally started season 5 of Emily in Paris. I need like 20 seasons of this show! I love it! I know this sounds silly, and it’s a silly show, but it really does inspire me. It makes me want to travel, to kill it at my job, and to up my fashion.
What I bought: I bought a new iPhone and needed a new case. I ended up buying this sage green tapestry print one. However, I am looking at getting a phone case that has a wristlit instead of the one I bought. It makes it easier to carry around, especially when I am shooting content for clients. Next I bought this matching sweater and pants set in beige to not only lounge in, but to work from home in.
