“Looking at beauty in the world is the first step of purifying the mind”

-Amit Ray

Happy Friday! In the words of Moira Rose: “I am booked up, David, you should see my schedule. I am positively bedeviled with meetings, etcetera.”

Last weekend I did absolutely nothing except watch tennis, the Ohio State football game, and went running/walking on the West Side Highway. I loved every minute of it. No where to go, no where to be. It was the calm before the storm. I am already (mostly) booked up for September, and I know from here on out the rest of the year is going to be a roller coaster. In the best way possible!

For those of you who may have missed last week’s Friday Simply Smitten, I made an exciting announcement! I have a new job as a Content Creator for Mostest; a weddings, events, and party planning company. My job is to capture special moments and create social media content for the client to use. This past week I had my second onboarding training; this time mostly focused on what is expected of me as a content creator. I am still blogging full-time, but this is an exciting add-on. I can pick and choose how many events I want to do at a time. Right now my focus is mostly on getting acclimated to Mostest, but once I get fully acquainted I should be able to balance the two. If not, I can always hire an assistant! But for now nothing should really change when it comes to the blog.

I am jumping headfirst into my new position. I already have my first client– a wedding this weekend in upstate New York!! I was onboarded last minute as a second content creator. I am both nervous and excited for it! Hopefully this snowballs into more clients/events.

Since I have an event this weekend, my week has been mostly spent in meetings with the planners, coordinators, and the other content creator. Mostly filling me in on the aesthetics of the wedding, the bride and groom’s wants and needs, and what type of content I should shoot. It’s a lot to take in so quickly, but I think once I get there and get going I will be ok. I know what I am doing, it’s just first day jitters.

Besides my Mostest work, I also worked on some content for my blog. I have another collaboration in the works– just waiting for my draft approval. Hopefully will be able to share next week.

Last night I attended the opening of Townhouse Beauty in Flatiron. It’s a UK nail salon that is making waves here in the US– already a salon in Tribeca. The salon is chic and feminine. A few things stood out to me like their lookbook. Instead of a wall of nail polish, you can scroll through their lookbook on an iPad. With AI technology, it shows different shades of skintones with the color of your choice. I could honestly spend hours playing around with it, checking out the different colors and designs. Another thing that stood out is that they provide halal nail polish– which is water based. It allows for oxygen and moisturizer to reach your nail buds when you have polish on. A healthier choice for your nails. At the event last night they had a cute floral design section. I was able to pick out 5 stems of my choice and they would arrange a bouquet for me. I wish I got the name of the florist to share. I also went home with their hand cream, hand cleanser, body scrub, and cuticle oil. An at-home spa day is clearly in my future.

What I am watching: The US Open is still going on! I am sad that Coco, Osaka, and Pegula lost but will be cheering on Anisimova in the finals. For the mens, I can’t wait to watch the Djokovic vs. Alcaraz match this afternoon.

Over the weekend I watched the new Netflix movie The Thursday Murder Club starring Helen Mirren, Pierce Bronson, Celia Imrie, and Ben Kingsley. I loved it!! It’s really cute! I thought it was clever; a nice mixture of humor and mystery. I hope they make a sequel!

I also started watching season 2 of My Life with the Walter Boys…. more like hate watching. This show is not good, yet I can’t seem to step away. Something always happens that I end up clicking next episode. I would love it if they got rid of everyone except the mom, the dad, Jackie’s one friend, and the brother that does theater. Alex is creepy, and sorry to say, a bad actor. Cole is also creepy and doesn’t really give anything for me to root for him (or find him a heart throb). The rest of the brothers/cousins are irrelevant. Jackie is annoying, but I do give her grace because of what she is going through. However, I find there isn’t a shred of chemistry between her and either brother. I do not even understand which brother we are suppose to be rooting for. It’s not good… I can’t wait for season 3!

What I bought: I ended up buying this printed satin pants for the fall. Currently on sale and under $100. Will be great to wear to events, out at night, to the theatre, etc.

For my new job I needed new equipment, like a portable charger. I already own this portable charger in silver (under $50), and decided to buy a second one (in silver) for when I do 10+ hour events. I can make sure my phone is fully charged.

This weekend, as mentioned, I am heading upstate for the wedding. It will pretty much take up my entire weekend, so when I am not at the wedding I will be working on content for it. I will also be watching what I can of the US Open finals, and hopefully be able to spend time reading.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
