Summer Outfit

It’s one of the most wonderful times of the year here in New York. The US Open is only a few weeks away and the city is already buzzing with tennis fever. Going to the US Open is one of my favorite traditions I have here in New York. I usually attend the noon matches at Arthur Ashe on the first day. It’s a nice afternoon of watching some of the greats compete while sipping on honey deuce.

This year I, unfortunately, do not have a ticket (yet!). My parents are going to be in town at the start of the tournament and our original plan was to attend. So when the tickets were first released, I didn’t jump on the opportunity to snag one. I was waiting to confirm with my family if they were going to stay or not. Well it turns out they are not staying, and I am SOL with a ticket. The only available tickets are resale that are ridiculously upcharged. My plan is to wait until the day before or even day of to see if ticket prices go down. I would hate to miss the tournament this year.

If you are going to the US Open for the first time and are not sure what to wear, I would say to dress nicely for the match but know you are going to sweat. The day matches are more casual than the evening ones. And the closer it gets to the final, the nicer people dress. In the past I have worn white rompers and lightweight floral dresses.

For day matches I would wear something casual like this white linen mini dress. It will keep you cool with the light material and give you room to breathe. Another light and airy dress is this green gingham mini; you can wear it with the v-neck in front or in back. A cute but casual look would be to pair this ruffle-trimmed peplum top (under $20) with white linen shorts or this blue stripe midi skirt.

Evening matches, while a bit more elevated, will still bring the heat. This green striped mini shirtdress is the perfect combination of style and comfort. It’s fashionable, elegant, and breathable. If you are looking for a white dress to wear, then look no further than this eyelet midi dress. The feminine embroidery and soft cotton will have you looking cute while you try not to sweat– currently on sale!

Accessorizing your outfit for the US Open is all about necessities. Comfortable shoes like these beloved sneakers or a pair of linen Mary Jane’s will keep your outfit stylish while still giving you the support you need to walk around. You may also want to shield your face from the sun. A cute wide brim sun hat or bucket hat is the perfect touch to complete your tennis tournament outfit. You want something that will cover your face, but not so wide that it hits the people around you. This white grosgrain ribbon sun hat is the right size for such an occasion. Shop more outfit ideas to wear to the US Open below.
