“Don’t rush your petals- unfolding is an art”

Happy Friday! From shaking my hips to Bad Bunny to witnessing 32 fouetté turns, this week was a celebration of dance. My one true love.
It is my favorite time of the year! Through the entirety of June and little bit of July when the American Ballet Theatre performs classical ballets at the Met Opera House. This week they are performing the beloved Swan Lake; celebrating not only 25 years of Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie’s production of the classic, but also 85 years of ABT. It was a lovely evening as always at the Met. It was a thrill to see one of my favorite Principle Dancers, Isabella Boylston, perform Odette/Odile. Cheering loudly when she does the traditional 32 fouettè turns in Act III– a very impressive, difficult, and high-stamina movement to do at the end of a long ballet.
It still gives me a thrill every time I walk into the Met Opera House to see a ballet. A surreal moment even after all these years, and one that I will never take for granted. It will forever be my favorite thing to do here in New York.
Besides seeing the ballet, I did a little dancing of my own at DanceBody this past week. I went to my usual Tuesday morning full-out class. We are at the end of the Q2 which means we are now performing and powering through the dances. The “NUEVAYoL” (Bad Bunny) dance has become one of my all-time DB favorites. One that I will randomly do at home or get overly excited when an instructor does it as a throw-back.
I was suppose to go see the Broadway show Death Becomes Her last night but I got an email that both Megan Hilty and Michelle Williams will not be performing. Megan is currently on leave due to vocal injury. The show gave us attendees an option to refund our tickets. After much internal debating I decided to take the refund and repurchase the ticket for mid-July when Megan is expected to return. While I know the understudy would have still given an amazing performance, I really want to see Megan Hilty perform. And also not having Michelle Williams there, well it was a disappointment all around. Hopefully by July Megan will be fully recovered and Michelle will be there!
The rest of my week was mostly work and a little bit of play. I aimlessly walked around the West Village on Monday afternoon. I needed to get out of my apartment, blow off some steam. I was in a mood. While on my walk I saw lots of lovely flowers planted in front of townhouses and stores. I took a good long look at the Virgin Suicide / Sofia Coppola display at BookMarc. And almost bought a plant at Plantshed. Not sure if I am ready to take on another plant just yet, but it sparked an interest. It was a lovely afternoon; the chance to explore, get inspired, and feel some internal peace.
What I am watching: The Tony Awards were on last weekend and I thought it went well! Cynthia Erivo was funny, kept the show moving, and showcased her amazing talent during her opening. I RAN to broadway.com to purchase tickets to Death Becomes Her and Sunset Blvd. I learned my lesson last year with not getting to see The Outsiders before it won its Tony and the ticket prices skyrocketed. It’s still $400 for balcony seats…sigh. Anyway, I quickly snagged Sunset Blvd tickets as fast as I could because Nicole Sherzinger’s last performance is at the end of July. Why haven’t I gone sooner? That is a question with an answer I do not have. Anyway, the Tony’s were, as always, amazing!
I watched the new Netflix movie Nonnas starring Vince Vaughn. I thought it was really cute and so sweet! I teared up when they all clapped for the women. Based on a true story, it’s about a restaurant in Staten Island that hires elderly ladies to cook homemade meals. It’s a beautiful concept; giving these women a second act. A community and a chance to stay active. I highly suggest the movie!
And Just Like That…. is back! It’s both ridiculous and so good! Seema is still my favorite- chic, funny, and a boss. I am in love with Carrie’s Gramercy apartment…. I want to live there! While watching the season, keep your eye out for a blonde girl in a pink dress (the one I am wearing in the picture above) in the background of a scene between Harry and Charlotte walking outside.
What I bought: I randomly decided I wanted a brown belt so I bought this Italian leather one in nutmeg. I also have it in black. Another item I shopped for was something new to wear to the ballet in the next few weeks. I bought this white satin maxi skirt— on sale! It’s something I can wear year-round.

This weekend I have nothing on the agenda as of right now. Hopefully the weather stays nice and warm so I can get out and about to enjoy the city. I do have some work stuff I need to get done, but mostly will do my usual weekend routine of reading, yoga, and Netflix.
Have a wonderful weekend xo
