“…that’s the most beautiful thing in the world: when two people become fluent in choosing one another”

Happy Friday! I hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day and were able to celebrate with those you love. It was a lovely day for me. I bought a pretty bouquet of flowers, savored my favorite gluten free brownie,  and chatted on the phone with my parents. All in all it was a good day in my book!

Over the weekend I celebrated Galentine’s Day with a few friends. I went uptown to my friend’s apartment where we had wine, pizza, candy, and watched How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days. We had a lot of fun together; I am really grateful for all of my friendships here in New York.

Saturday I attended a birthday party of another friend at the legendary Holiday Cocktail Lounge in East Village. This was surprisingly the first time I have been to the Holiday Cocktail Lounge, even though it’s almost a right of passage for New Yorkers. It’s one of the oldest bars in the city and has been known to frequent celebrities like Frank Sinatra. Anyway, the birthday celebration was fun! My friend is moving to Sweden in a few months, so it was so nice to celebrate her before her big move.

This past week wasn’t as busy as the previous, but I still had a few things on the agenda. I completely forgot about NYFW. It was one of those things where I kept putting it off, saying I would send my requests later. Then I completely forgot about NYFW until it started. A part of me is bummed that I didn’t get to go to a few shows, but another part of me is fine with missing it all. I do love the shows; I love the shows more than the events. Based on what I saw on social media, it seems a lot of my influencer friends did not attend. The February shows are a lot more relaxed than the September ones. Most people skip February– which is why I am bummed I missed it. February shows are much easier to get into than September. It’s a chance for me to actually see the designers and brands that I’ve been itching to attend. Let’s be honest, I am at the bottom tier of invites behind industry, celebrities, and top influencers. And I should be! Still, I love to go…. maybe I will try for September.

Even though I missed out on the thick of NYFW, I did attend an event and a press preview. Monday evening I went uptown to Printfresh for the launch of their spring collection. It was a nice little event where we got to see the new collection, drink wine, and eat caviar. I ran into some friends and overall had a nice evening.

Wednesday morning I went to the LK Bennett showroom for a private run-through of their spring, fall, and winter collections. They have some of the most comfortable, chic coats and tweed jackets in the upcoming collections. There is also this gorgeous marigold slip skirt and sweater set that I have my eye on for the fall.

I didn’t go to my usual DanceBody class on Tuesday, instead I went on Thursday. I canceled my Tuesday class because of the snow. We were expected to get up to 8 inches, which I think we only got 2 or 3 inches. Anyway, I didn’t want to truck through the snow and went on Thursday instead. Which I regret because my body was not having it. It was as if I had two left feet. On top of that my stamina way so low, I barely mustered through the workout. It happens, but at the time I was extremely frustrated. Next week I will be back with energy.

What I am watching: Did you watch the Super Bowl? I watch the Super Bowl every year even though I couldn’t care less who wins. I am there for the food, commercials, and half-time show. I, of course because of Taylor Swift, have been following the Chiefs games these past few months. So this time around I was rooting for the Chiefs to win and they did!! I thought the ending was great, but most of the game was boring. I loved seeing Taylor having fun though! Usher’s halftime performance was great as well! I think I came alive when “Yeah” and “Turn Down For What” started playing. Lots of fun! My favorite commercial was Dunkin’ Donuts with Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Tom Brady. I thought it was well done; funny and creative.

I started watching the mini series One Day on Netflix. I know I read the book, and saw the Anne Hathaway movie a long time ago. However, I cannot for the life of me remember how it ends. I have an inkling as to what happens, but am not completely positive. I could be mixing it up with another book. Either way I am enjoying the show so far!

I watched the romcom movie Upgraded on Prime. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. I feel like romcom’s these days can be a hit or miss, but this one I thoroughly enjoyed. I loved how she was an art curator– I find that job to be so fascinating. I once dated a guy who was an art dealer and it fascinated me. In another life I want to work in the art world. Anyway, it was a cute movie and highly recommend!

What I bought: I didn’t buy anything new but I started to read Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld. It’s this months’ Guest of a Guest book club pick (they gift us the next month’s book). I am so far enjoying the story and find it to be an easy read. It’s clearly inspired by Saturday Night Live which is what I am imagining when I read it.

This weekend I am going to the House of Chloé Exhibit at the Jewish Museum. I have been meaning to go and, of course, I am doing it at the last minute. The exhibit ends this weekend. I need to be better at visiting exhibits at a more proper time frame. Anyway, the exhibit should be amazing– I have loved all the pictures I have seen via social media. Other than the exhibition I will be reading, working out, and relaxing this weekend.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
