“I’d rather die of passion than boredom”

-Van Gogh

Happy Friday! To say that I am excited that Taylor Swift is extending her tour would be an understatement. I am beyond ecstatic and pray that I get tickets this time around! I was one of the folks who got screwed over by Ticketmaster. This time, however, I am prepared with a team consisting of my mom and sister. Like I’ve said a few times already: come hell or high water I will get these tickets.

Last weekend I went downtown to the South Street Seaport to check out the new Tin Building. A year-old marketplace created by the famous chef Jean-Georges. The Tin Building is a typical marketplace with a variety of restaurants. A mixture of casual and fine-dining. There is also a candy shop and a florist there to enjoy. I didn’t eat at the Tin Building, instead roamed around to see what the marketplace had to offer. I wouldn’t mind going back for lunch or dinner someday…. but not until I go to the Barbie Cafe.

Yes! There is a Malibu Barbie Cafe at the Seaport. I had no idea until I passed by.  I immediately walked in and started snapping pictures of all the fun Barbie decor. It was jammed packed with women of all ages wearing pink. I was fortunately wearing pink as well and people all over the Seaport kept saying “Hi Barbie” to me. Little did they know that was just my outfit and not meant for the cafe. But I didn’t mind! I said “Hi Barbie” back to each and every one of them–even the men, haha! The cafe is open until October.

Also last weekend I finally joined City Girls Who Walk. Every Sunday at noon a large group of women gather in Central Park to go on a 40 minute walk. It is open for all ages, but would say it was mostly women in their 20s and 30s. But I did see some older women there as well. The majority of women who go, go alone. It’s a great way to meet people. Everyone is really open and wanting to chat. I enjoyed meeting some of the girls and getting to know them. I will definitely go back again!

Yesterday I went to Glosslab for a mani and pedi. I can’t tell you the last time I had a pedicure. I also stopped getting regular manicures during the pandemic. I’ve been doing my own at-home mani / pedi’s since then. Anyway, it was long overdue to get pampered. As always I got red on my toes. For my nails I usually opt for shades of red or pink. This time I got a pink-peach color (gel nails). What I liked about Glosslab is that they were clean– the tools they used were brand new. They also do not use water. At first I thought it was strange they were not using water for my pedicure, and also to wash my hands during my manicure. Then I read the reasoning and thought it was a much better, more environmentally friendly way to go. Not using water is better for your nails, hygiene, and for the environment. Water bowls can contain bacteria and it weakens your nails.  No thank you! I really enjoyed my little spa day at Glosslab and highly recommend going! My nails look amazing!

What I am watching: I started watching season 2 of Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix. I am enjoying the 2nd season thus far– only on episode 3. I like how the storylines move quickly, resolve within an episode or two. Makes the series more interesting– it works for this show.

What I bought: I can’t wait to wear this stripe shirtdress for the rest of the summer and early fall. This is a great transitional dress. I can pair it now with sandals then switch to loafers in the fall. I bought my normal size 2– so hopefully it fits! I also bought a new book to prepare for Guest of a Guest book club in a few weeks. Last but not least I bought new oven mittens. My current one looks like it just came back from hell. It was time for new mittens- bought these in blue, under $15.

This weekend I am FINALLY going to start my mirror project. After months of searching I finally found a stencil that I like. I already have the paint and brushes I need– well I still need to get the color I will use for the stencil, but I have had that picked out since March. This weekend I am going to paint the base, let it dry for a day, then paint the stencil. I am so excited to get do this and see the outcome. The biggest obstacle I see right now is to move my large full-length mirror to the main room of my apartment. It may be too heavy for me. We will see! Other than painting my mirror I will be going on my usual run/walk, frolic somewhere around the city, read my book, and enjoy the weekend.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
