As a shopping enthusiast I love discovering new-to-me brands to browse. There are so many wonderful small businesses to shop from. A particular small label that I have been loving over the past year or so is DÔEN. They recently opened a brick and mortar on Bleecker Street in West Village that I frequent. Recently they released their first drop of their fall collection and I am loving all of the moody floral dresses and cozy knit sweaters.
For a little background on DÔEN; it was founded in 2016 by the fabulous sister duo Margaret and Katherine Kleveland in California. Who doesn’t love a female-owned brand!! And 82% of their collections are made by women-owned or co-owned factories. As well as producing sustainable items– they have a program for resell called Hand Me DÔEN.
DÔEN has the classic California laid-back bohemian style mixed with soft feminine details. While motherhood is the core inspiration behind the brand, it’s really for every woman to feel their very best everyday. It is not a maternity brand– although they do have pregnancy and nursing friendly styles.
With its vintage feel, DÔEN has become a popular brand. When I think of the brand, I think of being comfortable in a flowy dress, bare-footed while frolicking around. Or perhaps shopping the farmers market or antiquing. Sipping tea at a cafe reading a new romance novel. Their comfort and style is the appealing factor for the brand. With the pre-fall collection recently launched, I have my eye on a few items. The first being this floral midi dress with puff sleeves. I saw it in their store the other day and fell in love! It’s the perfect transitional piece; wear it now with sandals and then switch to boots for the fall (throw on a cardigan as well). Another item I am looking at is this oversized fisherman knit sweater. It’s a sweater that will never go out of style and you will have for years and years to come.
