“Whenever you are creating beauty around you, you are restoring your own soul.”

-Alice Walker

Happy Friday! And dare I say happy holidays?! I haven’t put up my holiday decor just yet. I haven’t even watched a Hallmark movie. But I am listening to Christmas music…. mostly Mariah Carey. ‘Tis the season!

Did you dress up for Halloween? I did not. I am not the biggest fan of Halloween, but I will dress up if I am invited to a party. I think my friends and I have currently outgrown the Halloween party phase. Even though I didn’t dress up, I did enjoy seeing on Instagram what other people dressed up as. I do like to ponder what I would dress up as if I had gone to a party. A few options I thought of: (bad girl) Sandy from Grease, Mia Thermopolis from Princess Diaries, and Mabel from Only Murders In The Building. I saw a friend of mine dressed up, along with her husband, as a Taylor Swift music video and I thought that was the best idea. Definitely keeping that in my memory bank for future Halloweens.

Instead of doing the Monster Mash, I celebrated Halloween by going to the ballet. Sunday afternoon I went uptown to the David H. Koch Theater to see the American Ballet Theatre perform The Dream. An adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Gillian Murphy, one of my favorite Principal dancers, danced the role of Queen Titania. I have to admit I probably need a refresh of Shakespeare because it took me a minute to remember the characters and the synopsis. Once the performance started, however, it all came back to me. It was a lovely performance. I do enjoy comic ballets. Yes, ballet can be funny! What really got me was the Young People’s Chorus singing while the fairies danced. Ballets never have vocals, so this was truly a wonderful moment. It felt magical. And to top it off, the fairies costumes were breathtaking. I can’t stop thinking about it! I am so happy I was able to see the ballet and can’t wait to go back to see The Nutcracker soon!

I went to DanceBody this past Tuesday and they introduced a new dance….I was not prepared ha! It’s a new hip hop dance to Fetty Wap 679. I immediately went home to do the breakdown video on their DBSTREAM. My favorite dance of the quarter is still Beyoncé’s Pure/Honey. It’s just so good!

What I am watching: I wanted something a little spooky to watch so I decided to give The Midnight Club on Netflix a chance. I loved it! It has everything; heartwarming, sad, a little scary, a mystery, and has humor. Set in the 90s, it’s about this special hospice house for teenagers. Every night the kids meet at midnight (Taylor’s Version… lol had to) and tell ghost stories. I will say that I think some of the stories go on a little too long, I much preferred the storyline of what is going on in the house. I really hope there is a season 2!

What I bought: I have been shopping around, searching for something to wear to my cousin’s wedding in December. I bought this wine colored dress to wear. It has arrived but I haven’t tried it on yet so will see if I like it. I am, however, still shopping around to see if I like something else. A non-wedding item I bought is a new book! I bought Colleen Hoover’s new book It Starts With Us. It’s the sequel to It Ends With US. I have already devoured a good portion of it.
