“Only love interest me, and I am only in contact with things I love.”

-Marc Chagall

Happy Friday! Cue the Justin Timberlake memes because tomorrow it’s gonna be May. And not only is it the 1st of May, but it’s also the Kentucky Derby!! I am so excited for the race tomorrow but bummed I will not be at a party sipping mint juleps while wearing a wide brim hat. Next year perhaps! As of now I do not know who I am rooting for in the Run for the Roses. I do hear Essential Quality and Rock Your World are the crowd favorites. No matter who wins it will surely be an exciting few minutes.

Did you watch the Oscars? I found it to be painfully boring. I ended up turning it off midway through. To be honest I have no interest in seeing most of the top nominated movies, so I was initially not invested. The only two movies I have seen are The Trial of the Chicago 7 and Billie Holiday vs. The United States. Both were very good! I was disappointed in the lack of substance at the Oscars. They didn’t even show clips of the movies that were being nominated. I did, however, thoroughly enjoyed the red carpet. Finally a red carpet after all this time!! It was so lovely to see celebrities dress up again. My top favorites were Regina King, Zendaya, and Alan S. Kim.

I am excited to announce that I will be riding in the Pelotonia again this year. It will be my dad’s last year, so I decided to join him on one last ride. Ever since he started participating in the race, we have been riding our bikes around town whenever I am home– and it’s warm out. I joined him 5 years ago for the first time- we did 50 miles then. This time we are only doing 20 miles because.. well…. my dad is older. For those of you who do not know, Pelotonia is an annual event that happens in Columbus, Ohio where thousands of riders each year raise money for cancer research. Then on one special day in August we all bike together. Some will go the full 200 miles, some 100 miles, others 80 miles, you can do 50 miles, or 20 miles like we are doing. If you would like to donate any amount you can go to my page here.

Since I will be biking 20 miles this summer I have started to up my cardio exercises. My endurance is not like it used to be pre-pandemic. Throughout the pandemic I have done a good job staying on top of workouts when it comes to sculpt, yoga, and pilates, but I am not doing dance cardio or running as much as I used to. Now that the weather is warmer I have started to run outside. I am trying to run twice a week if I can. So far I am running a mile and a half, which is good! I was never much of a runner to begin with. I have only done a few 5Ks here and there. Hopefully by the end of summer I will be back to running 3 miles again… or at least not hyperventilate while doing the 20 mile bike ride.

What I am watching: I haven’t started any new shows as I am still watching The Umbrella Academy. I take back what I said last week that I am not really into it. Well now I absolutely love it. It’s so good and I highly recommend. It’s not only action packed but it’s pretty funny. The cinematography, the effects, and the music is pretty incredible as well. I will be done with season 2 this weekend and looking forward to whenever they release season 3.

I started the last season of Younger. I do not want to give too much away, but lets just say I used to like Charles. This season I can’t stand him. Although I love Josh, I felt Charles was a better fit for Liza. They are the same age, have common interest, both divorced, and are each others equals. Now I don’t know who I choose. Josh has his baby and I feel Liza doesn’t want to start all over again and be a mother. Good thing I am not a writer on the show, because I would have Liza end up single, opening up her own publication with Kelsey. Maybe I will be right, maybe she will choose one of the men….

What I bought: I wanted to get a new pair of white shorts as mine are starting to see better days. I ended up getting these high-waist shorts. While I was browsing the website I decided to add this floral blouse to my cart as well. As mentioned I am started to run more outside, so I decided to buy a new workout top. I ended up getting this racerback sports bra in navy and this paloma sports bra also in navy- eventually will return one. The last and final thing I bought this past week is this cottage dress in pink— currently on sale!

This weekend, as mentioned, I will be watching The Kentucky Derby and going on a run. I will also do a little frolicking around the city to get out of the apartment. Next week I am getting my last and final vaccine shot so I will be ready to mingle and have a social life again soon! I am so happy New York is opening up. Apparently by July 1st we will be fully opened. I am can not wait!!

Have a wonderful weekend xo
