“It’s time to start believing in your own potential and thinking highly of yourself.”

Happy Friday!! The sun is out, the weather is warm, and the snow has (sorta) melted. It’s starting to look and feel like spring! I, for one, am over snow days and openly welcome the new season. I know this is probably a fool’s spring as they call it and we will be right back to wearing our duck boots sooner than we would like. Still I am dreaming of warm days.

Since it was so nice outside, and by nice I mean 46 degrees instead of freezing temps, I took the liberty to spend as much time outside as possible. I went running for the first time in months along the west side river walk. It was still a bit nippy out. I bundled up as much as possible, but by the time I got home I was ready for a warm bowl of soup. Still it felt so good to exercise outside. I wasn’t the only one who took advantage of the warm weather we’ve been having here in the city. It seems like everyone is out and about.

Speaking of working out, this past week I was invited to try Robin Bray’s Fitness Barre class. During the class we had a chance to workout with 3 different instructors including Robin herself. The class started off with a quick 15 minutes of HIIT exercises followed by a mini barre class and ended with abs. I haven’t done a mixed workout like this in a long time and it really got up heart rate up. I throughly enjoyed the class and can not wait to take another one. They offer 6 different types of classes: a classic 60 minute barre class and a 45 minute barre class, a high intensity 60 minute barre class, 45 minute HIIT class, a mix between HIIT and barre, and yoga flow. My week wasn’t all sweat sessions and sunshine, I attended a webinar with RewardStyle about cross channel analytics. I also celebrated my half-birthday with a delicious pumpkin seed butter cup from Dwarf Stars— so, so good! I know I am 35 and celebrating my half-birthday, but we are in the middle of a pandemic. I will celebrate any and all things in my life. I need all the joy I can get.

Also this past week I started listening to The Gussie podcast. Pamela and Susannah talk all things interior design. I have learned so much already and find it all very fascinating. I love interior design and feel I have a good grasp on it, but of course I am not a professional. I keep having to stop the podcast to google design terminology. I even started to research online classes to learn more. It’s funny how in your 30’s all your friends start to become interested in interior design. Of course it’s because we (well they, I live in an apartment) have purchased a home and are now decorating it.  I’ve notice this shift of interest and it’s quite nice. Our conversations are no longer about what happened at the bar over the weekend and now tailored to whether to lacquer or not. Anyway, I am throughly enjoying the podcast and can’t wait to listen to more.

What I am watching: Currently binging Firefly Lane on Netflix starring Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke. It’s an adaptation of the book, which I wish I read before watching. I may still end up reading it because the book is always different and better than on the screen. Anyway, it’s about two best friends who weather the storms of growing up and also being an adult. It’s set in modern times (which is 2003) and flashes back to the 70’s and 80’s. I love the nostalgia of it, also the importance of friendship. It makes me miss my friends so much since I haven’t seen them because of the pandemic.

It’s suppose to rain these next few days which puts a damper on an already limited weekend. I am not sure what my plans will be- most likely filled with Netflix and books. Of course I will be watching the Golden Globes. I am excited to see what the celebrities will wear on the virtual red carpet. Oh how I miss the real red carpet looks! Hopefully next year we will.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
