For as long as I can remember I have had a running bucket list of things I want to do and achieve in life. I have one for life in general and one for New York. One thing that I have always wanted to do was a staycation here in the city. A relaxing night or two at a hotel that doesn’t involve visitors and a jammed-packed weekend of touring the city. A mini escape from my apartment and surroundings. Luckily I was able to do so through CuraCity. When they reached out and offered me a stay at the WestHouse Hotel in midtown, I jumped at the opportunity for a staycation.

I loved that the hotel was in a different area in the city in which I currently live. It’s in a part that I normally do not hang around in, which made it seem like a little vacation. If I were a visitor in the city, the WestHouse Hotel would be a great place to stay since it is so central to all of the amazing attractions NYC has to offer; Central Park, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Theatre District, easy access to downtown and uptown. Since I live in the city I did none of the tourist attractions and made my stay at the hotel that of leisure. I bought a bottle of champagne, did a face mask, went to bed early, read my book, etc. It was lovely! The hotel itself does offer a fitness room, which I was planning on using but unfortunately it was under construction when I was there.

WestHouse offers a complimentary breakfast bar in the morning on their terrace. The terrace is a great spot to work in during the day if you are there for business. A lot of the people staying at the hotel were there for business purposes it seemed. They also have a beautiful bar to grab a drink or two during happy hour. They do not offer dinner (only lite snacks during happy hour) which I completely understand– it is NYC and the idea is to not be in your hotel but to be out and about. The decor in the hotel is beautiful; modern yet stylish.

I highly suggest doing a staycation. It really does recharge you and feels as if you did escape the city…. without paying for a flight. I hope to do more staycations in the future. Mostly to help those of you visiting the city and wondering where to stay, I can help you in deciding which hotels are a good fit.
