“There’s always a hidden blessing in every situation”

-Sara Blakely

Happy Friday! What a week this has been…… A part of me keeps thinking this will end this week or next weekend, but the truth is, it may be much longer. The good news is that the virus in China is slowly starting to shift, with no new cases. There is a light starting to shine in the darkness. We may only be at the beginning of the virus here in America, but knowing that this will eventually be over gives me hope. Until then STAY HOME, do not go out and buy everything under the sun at the grocery store, and help others during this time. I have been texting friends to make sure they are ok mentally and physically. Right now I am more concerned about the mental health of my friends and family. I am concern about my own mental health as well.

For the most part, I am trying to stay positive as much as I can. It’s the only way I can get through this isolated time in my apartment. I have found things to keep myself busy throughout the day- reading, cleaning, working out, cooking, dance parties, puzzles, work. Surprisingly I have not been watching as much TV as I thought I would be, but this may change as time goes on. I take daily walks and go to the grocery store or coffee shop; my one get out of jail free card that rejuvenates me with fresh air and exercise. My coffee shop closed down temporarily so now I am making my own matcha latte at home– which has been a treat to do. I may learn a few TikTok dances for fun– not sure if I’ll post them. Still not into TikTok, but we will see. Most importantly I have been meditating and journaling a lot. Writing down my thoughts, breathing through the frustration and uncertainty. To be honest, I have never been one who gets bored being alone, but I do miss human interaction.

I still have moments of sadness and fear. I have NO IDEA what is going to happen to my income, based solely around people shopping (some may not want to spend money and others may want to to help the economy), it also comes from brand partnerships. Right now brands are re-adjusting their cash flow and either will spend more money on influencer marketing; being we are the only ones who can market products since advertisements usually entail 10-40 people in the room to create. Or brands may also go the route of holding onto their pretty pennies as customers have shifted their focus from spring attire to food and necessities. Only time will tell and I am trying to keep my spirits up and continue to post fashion content. At least for me, and hopefully all of you, looking at fashion content is a nice escape from all of the noise on social media and the news.

*Also- I have said this on Instagram and on my IG stories, but if you need a friend right now to talk to about the virus or about fashion or books or something on TV or need a break from your kids, I am here to chat. My Instagram DMs are open and I am more than happy to be a friend to anyone right now (and always). I felt a million times better just texting friends and checking in on them.

My biggest fear and concern right now is for my grandmother who is 97 years old. Of course she is not going out and about, but could easily get it from my family not knowing they are carrying it, or from a delivery man, etc. My mom is begging me to fly home to Columbus so I am not so isolated and alone. But it goes back to being afraid of passing the virus along to family members. I couldn’t live with myself if I gave it to my grandmother or parents. I am fine here in NYC for now.

This weekend entails more social distancing. My heart goes out to all of you with children, trying to entertain them. I am sure it’s tiring and even more frustrating. Especially since it’s still a little cold out, so they can not run out in the yard (if you have one). Hopefully you are all surviving and finding creative ways to keep the kids busy. I, on the other hand, have no one but myself to entertain, so I will be watching movies this weekend along with working out, making pancakes, reading, etc. I plan on taking an extra-long walk this weekend if weather permits.

Hope you are all safe and healthy, have a wonderful weekend xo
