“There is more honor in failure than there is in wasted potential”

– The Politician

Happy Friday! This week was a lot better than the previous one when I was in a terrible mood. This week I am like the rainbow after the storm, Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand singing “Happy Days Are Here Again”.  That’s the beauty of going through storms, when you finally step into the light, into happiness it feels 10 times better. Even when things didn’t always go my way I was still happy– like when I was almost attacked by a homeless man…

Yes, a homeless man tried to punch me this past Monday. I was walking on 14th street, trying to facetime my mom who was taking care of my niece. While I waited for our connection to go through I heard someone yelling. I looked up and a 6’5 homeless man was charging after me screaming profanity and vulgar names at me. He mistook me facetiming my mom for recording his belligerent behavior. While he was charging after me he had his arm up in the air, ready to attack. At first I thought he was going to swipe at my phone but then I saw his hand go into a fist as he swung downwards towards my head. I quickly squatted and stepped to the side (shoutout to Rumble boxing for my cat-like reflexes) causing him to miss. I covered my head with my arms for a few seconds expecting him to turn around and try to hit me again. Luckily he just kept on walking calling me the B and the C word. That is when I yelled at him that I was facetiming. Thank god my phone was not connecting with my moms, otherwise I wouldn’t have been paying attention and may have had been punched my a grown man. I am not in the mood to get punched. I don’t know what guardian angel was looking after me that day, but job well done!

Besides showing off my defensive skills, my week was mostly filled with looking at apartments. I found one last weekend that I loved. It has 3 closets…. 3 CLOSETS!! You know who needs 3 closets? THIS GIRL. Unfortunately, there were 6 applicants and I did not get the apartment. But I am looking at it as God’s way of saying that I need to get an apartment that allows dogs so I can get one. Obviously. (the apartment did not allow pets). So I am still in my search for the perfect apartment. I have 4/5 that I am seeing this weekend. Pray for me that I found one this weekend!!

You know what really kept me in a great mood this week? Ben Platt. Yes, that Ben Platt from Pitch Perfect, Dear Evan Hansen, and now The Politician. The Politician, by the way, is so good!! Anyway, I started listening to Ben Platt’s album and absolutely love it. I have “Rain” on repeat daily. Ben’s music makes me happy! I now want to be his best friend, or at least give him a hug. Is that creepy? He just seems like the nicest guy in the world and we both love musicals. I think there is a high possibility for a friendship. Anyway, do yourself a favor and download his music. His voice is not only incredibly beautiful, it is also calming.  After “Rain”, listen to “Ease My Mind”, “Bad Habits”, “Runaway”, and “Grow As We Go”. Those are all my favorites! The “Grow As We Go” video is also beautiful to watch.

Yesterday was filled with events. I started my day at 6:30am at the Empire State Building. I was there for the launch of their new observation deck on the 102 floor. It’s all indoors, which is nice for those of you who are visiting the city in the winter. The views are still amazing– only higher!  It was an incredible experience watching the sunrise over Manhattan. Something I’ll never forget.

Later in the afternoon, I stopped by the Sarah Flint pop-up store in Soho. Sarah Flint is a New York City-based shoe brand. I got to try on a few pairs and I have to say, they are really comfortable. The heels have a cushioned arch support that makes a world of difference in the comfort of the shoe. I ended up getting the Natalie flats in leopard print. I noticed that my flat shoe collection was becoming extinct. It’s nice to have flats to throw on for comfort. My current leopard printed flats have seen better days, so I needed new ones. Leopard flats with black jeans and a black sweater– trés chic. The pop-up will be opened until mid-December! So definitely stop by!

Last night I attended the Benjamin Moore Color of The Year Party They were announcing the “it” color for 2020– First Light 2101-70. It’s a light blue color that will look lovely as your wall coloring in your home. The party was fun but I didn’t stay there very long since I was exhausted from the day.

This weekend I will be looking at apartments and hopefully getting in a workout. I haven’t worked out since Tuesday and I am feeling the restlessness of it. I need to move! I haven’t worked out because of my schedule– doctor appointment, viewing apartments, events, work, etc. So hopefully I am able to go to a class or two. Other than that I have nothing else on the agenda.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
