A few weeks ago while I was doing a style photoshoot my photographer Lauren mentioned that I was the first client of hers to pull out a basket bag. What can I say? I am over winter and ready for spring! Basket bags are a summer and spring staple piece. A bag that you can never have too many of. I remember as a kid loving to play with both of my grandmother’s basket bags. Cute clutches and top handles my one grandmother would take as she summered in Florida for the winter season. My other grandmother had a particular bag that would make a chirping noise when she walked. She told my sister and me that there was a baby bird in her purse but we weren’t allowed to see it because the little birdie was always sleeping. Obviously now I understand it was just the handle making noise, but as a 4 year old my grandmother was like Snow White to me.

Now as an adult I have started to collect basket bags. I currently have the favored ark bag by Cult Gaia. Everyone seems to have this bag and for good reason. I get SO many compliments on it when I take it out with me. Side note: If you are worried about being able to see the inside content, I put my private items in a small cosmetic case. Anyway, this season the ark bag is still a must have but there is a new kid in town, the circle bag from Cult Gaia. Everyone is trying to get their hands on it. I personally really like the Cult Gaia circle bag but would probably get this one from Serpui for a cleaner look. Honestly you can’t go wrong with either one, both are fabulous!

If big basket bags are not your style, clutches are the next best thing. I own one from J.McLaughlin (from last year) and it became one of my go-to bags last season. This one from J.McLaughlin would be perfect for nights out. For a more affordable one, this clutch (only $35!) is perfect for vacation.

Basket bags are a timeless item that every woman should have as part of her spring and summer wardrobe. Here are my top 10 favorite ones of the season!
