“The way you are describing your life is the way it is manifesting”

Happy Friday and happy New York Fashion Week!! To kick of NYFW I went to the Pamella Roland show this past Wednesday. She makes couture gowns that is sold at stores like Bergdorfs and Neimans, they were absolutely beautiful. Give me a long train that is feathered and sequined and I am in heaven! The craziness has only just begun and I can’t wait for what is to come.

Yesterday I was presented the opportunity to work as a model dresser for the Heidi Klum x Lidl presentation/event. It was so fun to see what goes on back stage, to be a part of fashion week in a different way. It meant that I missed out on attending an event and show, but I thought the experience of being back stage was worth it. Luckily after all of the models were dressed I was able to attend the event which was pretty amazing! Lidl is a supermarket and they are trying to amp up their clientele, i.e. a Heidi Klum collection; Lots of leopard, metallic bomber jackets, tight skirts, and shades of blue. Since this is fashion meets supermarket, the event was turned into a grocery store filled with produce, shopping carts, virtual shopping lists, and a conveyor belt where the models would stand on as if they were being “checked out”. It was awesome! I had a lot of fun, but boy was it exhausting!

Today  and tomorrow I have more events to attend. Starting off with this afternoon I am going to RewardStyle headquarters. RS is the affiliated program I use to make my blog and social media accounts shoppable for all of you. I am so grateful I was invited as only a few bloggers were. RewardStyle is based out of Dallas but they have an office here in NYC. RS is also throwing their annual rooftop party tomorrow night. It is my FAVORITE event of NYFW. Again I am so, so, so grateful I am invited this year. They cut down the invite list, which caused a frantic blogging community, and somehow god made sure I was on the attendee list.

Tonight I am attending the Style Collective event for bloggers, then heading over to SAKS for a private NYFW cocktail party and presentation. Sunday I have a few shows to attend and I am still hoping to get into a few more! I love fashion week!!  A few days ago I talked about how I have been having anxiety. I think talking about it really helped because I no longer feel as anxious. I have a some nerves but the good kind where you are nervous because something exciting is happening.

I think I am going to start a new series called “sh*t that only happens to me”, ha. First on the series– Friday I went to a stretching class, it ended up being at a pole dancing studio….. I was the only none stripper in the class.  The whole thing felt cliché. The first thing I saw when I walked in was a man with one of those mustaches that twist around at the end. There was a pole class going on, and I panicked a little thinking that my “stretching” class was going to be a pole dancing class. I have never seen pole dancers before, except in movies. I felt uncomfortable but also knew if this was going to be a real stretching class, it was going to be amazing as pole dancers are both strong and flexible. I watched the class the same way I watch 50 Shades and other horror movies, with my hands covering my eyes with fingers slightly separated. I was pretty impressed with their strength. My class was a true stretching class. It was exactly what I needed. I didn’t want to go to yoga and do a million sun salutations, I wanted a classic dance stretching class where they make you do the splits for a minute. I felt amazing afterwards. The instructor had us in positions, I didn’t even know I could do.  At the end I was a little upset no one approached me with the inquire to become a pole dancer because they were so impressed with my flexibility.  I do not want to become a pole dancer, but I would of have liked to have been appreciated.

Second part of my “sh*t that only happens to me” series is this past Monday morning, I had a million errands to run for this upcoming week and one untrustworthy zipper. My favorite white shorts from Club Monaco that I wear all of the time, well apparently there was a hole where the teeth meet the garment and my zipper got stuck in it…. for half an hour. It wouldn’t budge. I started to panic as I couldn’t get the zipper to move, and I also could not get my shorts off. Neither one of my roommates were home to help and I tried to cut the zipper myself but ended up slicing my thumb. I called my grandmother, who happen to have my mom over at the time, for advice. She told me to put soap on it, but that did not work. I could hear my mom making fun of me in the background, so I made my grandmother scold her. I was not in a laughing mood. It was decided that I need to cut myself out of the shorts. I put on a long cardigan so my underwear would not show and walked to Club Monaco. I had two sales associates working on my zipper while other customers looked at me like I was crazy, because I am. Finally they were able to cut through the teeth to free me! I changed shorts and went on with my day. Club Monaco was so sweet about it, even tried to get me a new pair to swap out but they didn’t have my size. Instead they are getting it fixed. Hallelujah!
