One of the ways I either unwind, start my day, or take a break from working is by listening to Podcasts. There are some I listen to leisurely when I have time and there are some that I listen to for only an episode or a season. Serial season one for instance I was very much into Adnan and the murder mystery, but stopped listening season two. There are a few Podcasts that I am a loyal listener of. I have listened to every single episode and look forward to the day of release for a new one to listen to. What I love about Podcasts is listening to interesting conversations while doing whatever it is that you need to do. It’s listening to people talk about relatable topics that I too like to discuss. Podcasts are the new book recommendations. Everyone seems to be in the market for new ones. I decided to share a few of mine that I listen to daily or weekly about topics that matter to me.

If anyone has a dance/or Broadway Podcast that they love– PLEASE share it with me, I am looking for one that is about dance.

Gilmore Guys

Hands down my favorite Podcast, the Gilmore Guys are hilarious and insightful. The shows original concept was about Kevin T. Porter who is obsessed with Gilmore Girls and Demi Adejuyigbe who has never seen the show before, recap each episode. I am a huge fan of Gilmore Girls so was instantly drawn to two straight guys talk about the show. It’s so funny and right on point with my thoughts on certain episodes and characters within the show. There has been plenty of days this show has brighten my day and put me in a great mood. The podcast is (sadly) over but the two moved onto Bunhead Bros– where they talk about the show Bunheads, and now Maisel Goys– talking about The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, my new favorite show at the moment! What do each of these shows have in common? They are all written by Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband Daniel. Demi is not part of the Maisel Goys but Kevin is still hosting along with comedian Alice Wetterlund. Although I miss Demi and his banter with Kevin, Alice brings a female prospective to Maisel and an insight into the comedy world (Maisel is about a women in comedy from the 50’s). I highly suggest listening to all three shows (found under Gilmore Guys) and fall in love with Kevin, Demi, and Alice like I have.

Almost 30

The universe kept bringing Almost 30 into my life through either a friend mentioning it, through blogging, or Instagram. Finally after a friend of mine recently said it was one of her favorite Podcasts, I finally gave it a listen. It wasn’t that I didn’t think I would like it, I just kept forgetting to listen to it until recently. I am so happy I finally did! Almost 30 is hosted by Krista Williams and Lindsey Simcik. They talk about everything– health, nutrition, culture, life in general, fitness, relationships, meditation, career, etc. Although it’s two girls in their late 20’s, this podcast is very relatable to all women of all ages. What drawls me to such Podcasts like this is educating myself on important health/business/relationship issues that us women go through, and also knowing that I am not the only one who is going through it.

The Lively Show

Jess Lively says jump and I jump. The Lively Show has been a favorite of mine for many years. I have been listening to it since the beginning of the Podcast. It is actually the first Podcast I ever listened to and I was instantly hooked. It’s safe to say I am a follower of her teachings. The Lively Show talks about life in general along with health, meditation, business, etc. Over the years the show has evolved and now Lively talks mostly about manifestation, intuition, energy, actions, quantum mechanics, etc. I am very interested in the subconscious mind right now and how it effects not only our body but our reality. I basically eat up every word she and her guests say. I have taken her online workshops/discussion forums in the past (and will take in the future) and found them to be very knowledgeable and life-changing. I have learned SO much about life, myself, and my body just by listening to Lively.

The Glossy

The Glossy is about how fashion and luxury is evolving with technology. As someone whose career is both fashion and tech this Podcast is right up my alley. The Glossy, hosted by Hillary Milnes, goes beyond social media. It talks about how technology has changed fashion week and runway shows, how it’s changed marketing, how it has impacted retail, and how some parts of the industry is still lacking in keeping up with modern tech. Right now in honor of fashion season they are currently interviewing designers and brand’s creative directors on fashion week and how they feel about the change in the industry. The most fascinating part of this is hearing from designers on why they choose presentations over runways and how runways are old fashion and out of date because consumers want instant gratification. 70% of what we see on runways never make it to stores, it’s usually for the drama of the show.  It’s very interesting and makes you feel like you are part of the industry insiders.

Pop Fashion

Another new to me Podcast, Pop Fashion is all things fashion news, pop culture, retail trends, fashion faux pas, and business. I was looking for another fashion based Podcast so I google fashion Podcasts and stumbled upon Pop Fashion (thanks Who What Wear!). Hosted by Lisa Rowan and Kaarin Vembar, both ladies have and are currently working in the fashion world with great in-depth information on it. The episodes I am currently loving the most is their intake on fashion week from NYC, Paris, London, and Milan (coming soon). It is also interesting to hear about what is going on in the fashion world– who is tanking, scandals, who is stepping down as creative director, who is new, whats on trend, etc. It’s like being part of the industry insiders, the fashion royalty. Is fashion is your thing then I highly suggest this Podcast.
