This month I am celebrating my 3rd year as a blogger! It is so crazy to think about! It feels like yesterday I was designing my website and nagging my co-workers on their thoughts on my blog name. But at the same time sooo much has happened since I have started and I have grown so much personally and professionally. I am not afraid to admit that I am pretty proud of myself for how far I have come and for how far I will go.

The best part of blogging, for me, is meeting new people. I have met some of the most creative, supportive, driven, kick-ass women ever, and glad to call them my friends. I am also so, so, so grateful for all of you who have been so supportive and loving. I started this blog for a few reasons and one of them was to connect with people through my passions. I feel lucky to have such a wonderful following, so thank you a millions time over! I hope you continue on this journey with me as I have no plans to stop any time soon!!

Some of you have been around since day one (hi mom!), and some of you are freshly new to my site, so I thought doing a “get to know me” post was appropriate. Of course there are tons of things you already know about me— my gluten allergy, my freaky obsession with working out, I live in NYC and am from Ohio, I love clothes, and I have an awesome personality (duh). But there are plenty of things you may not know about me. Here are 5 random facts about moi!

  1. I have been dancing since I was 3 years old. Through the many, many years I have been dancing I have taken ballet, tap, jazz, and modern dance.  I love dancing and am so grateful it is a big part of my life. I majored in dance in college and taught a little right after college. Now I take a ballet class here and there but not as much as I would like to. I do, however, go to see every show during American Ballet Theatre’s Met Season. It is always my favorite time of the year. Ballet is not my strong suit but I love to watch it. I am better at jazz and modern/contemporary dance.
  2. I have a wicked scar on my left forearm. Unfortunately I have been living with a scar since high school. The summer going into my junior year I was at cheerleading practice and broke both of my arms at the same time doing a back handspring. It, thankfully, did not hurt because my entire body went numb. I had surgery on my left arm (now have two medal plates and one cool card to show at the airport incase I set off the alarm), and a cast on my right arm. I call that summer, the summer I died. Not. Fun.
  3. I wag my feet side to side at night. To the dismay of my sister during sleepovers, I have been wagging my feet from side to side since I was little. I used to do it every night, and pretty viciously. It was the only way I could fall asleep. I had to learn to stop doing it once my sister threatened to not have sleepovers anymore–and probably threatened my life. Now as an adult I do it once or twice a week– I usually do not realize I am doing it.  I believe I wag my feet as a way to get rid of the extra energy I have left (?). I also heard people do it as it calms the body, just like when you were little and your mom would rock you to sleep.
  4. I am deathly afraid of Ostriches. Yes I have a fear of heights and wish for clowns to become distinct, but Ostriches I hhaaattttteeee. First of all they are an abnormal size bird. It is not right… it’s just not right. Can you imagine if they could fly? Oh heck no, seriously terrifying! They are not cute or cuddly looking and the are mean. When I was a child my mom and I were at the Zoo and we were looking at the Ostriches. One of them was walking towards us and the Zoo keeper said for everyone to back away. Well I backed away right before the big ugly bird tried to bite me. Ever since then I have been afraid of them and will panic if I see one.
  5. I am obsessed with Julie Andrews. She is my favorite celebrity of all time. I wish Julie Andrews was my grandmother. Don’t get me wrong I love my grandmothers very  much, I just wish Julie Andrews was my 3rd grandmother. The Sound of Music is my all-time favorite movie and Julie Andrews has been my idol ever since I was little. She is just so poised and elegant and seems so sweet. She would be the type of grandmother who would not allow you to have dessert before dinner, but after you can go hog wild with toppings. And do I even have to mention how talented she is? I mean, hellooo she is Julie Andrews! I am dying to meet her someday, and when I do you will know because I will be dead from happiness. No one compares to Julie Andrews and no one ever will.

Bonus fact: If I could could live anywhere else in the United States I would live in Charleston or Chicago.
