labor day weekend

Say it isn’t so!  Is summer really almost over? Although I enjoy the fall and love the holidays, I am not ready to say goodbye to the sunshine season. I had a pretty great summer and do not want to see it end. I know the season officially ends on the 22nd of September, but Labor Day weekend is the unofficial start to fall. At least it feels that way. Goodbye summer Fridays, endless days at the beach, rosé on rooftops, lazy summer activities, white dresses….I am starting to get depressed.

When it comes to shopping, to the dismay of my bank account,  I am not one to shy away from designer brands. If I see something I want I will find a way to get it. You can’t out a price tag on happiness, as I like to tell my dad. I have learned (ish) over the years that being fashionable does not mean you need to break the bank. Something that cost $50 may look just as great, or even better, than a article of clothing that cost $500. So when two of my favorite brands, Who What Wear x Target,  join forces and create the cutest ruffle top for only $27, you wisely buy it. Have you ever seen me turn down a ruffle top? NO! Why would I start now when it cost the same amount as an NYC salad. Fun side story: My bank put my credit card on hold the other day because I was suspiciously spending too much on…..food. They are either calling me fat or have never been to New York.
Ok fine, I was buying clothes too, but I still stand behind the fact that the bank was trying to tell me it’s time to go on a diet.
Anyway, enough of my melodrama, back to the cute ruffle top that is UNDER $27! Why you are still reading this and not shopping is beyond me. I am not that cool or interesting….. Ever since Who What Wear graciously gave me this denim jacket  (that is way too cool for me and makes me feel on trend) at their event a few months ago, I have been keeping an eye on their collection with Target. Or as I like to call it Tarjay, in my french accent. This dynamic duo has been selling fashionable and affordable clothes for the past year or so. I took a sneak peek at their fall collection and it is a good one! Tons of amazing items that are all under $50! Look great while not breaking the bank.

New York Fashion Week is just around the corner! This will be my 3rd fashion week and it truly is still a pinch me experience! I can’t believe how fast the year has flown by. It feels like yesterday I was visiting NYC for fashion week; chit chatting with friends on a rooftop in Tribeca overlooking the Freedom Tower, about how I want to move back. So much has happened in a year and I am truly grateful to live in the city that knows fashion.

When I first moved to New York there was no doubt in my mind that I would live in Manhattan. I thought if I was going to do this, I have to live in the heart of it all. To be honest I never really saw the appeal of Brooklyn. Even through all of the years I have lived in NYC, I still did not understand why anyone would leave Manhattan to move to Brooklyn. Sure you may get more room, it is quieter, and probably a little less expensive, but Manhattan is…. well, Manhattan! And through the years I rarely crossed the bridge to travel over there unless it was for a specific reason. I was always one of those Manhattanites that would say “I don’t do Brooklyn” when in conversation of where to eat or what do to that day.
