NYFW street style trends

Another fashion week has come and go. I had a wonderful time seeing brands and designers collection for fall ready to wear for 2018. The biggest take from the shows is for us to expect a lot of color next season. It seems everyone is trying to make winter not so gloomy and dark. Although there were many trends we saw on the runway, some of the best were from all of the attendees. People watching during NYFW is truly the best. Some outfits are outrageous, some inspire me to up my game, and some are just not my style. Many trends are happening at the moment that was clear from the streets of fashion week like layering, faux furs, white or red ankle boots, Gucci belts, transparency, and sneakers. Through all of the trends the were 4 that I consistently saw from the world’s most fashionable people.

Power Suits

Power suits are nothing new to women’s fashion (hello the 80’s). Although nothing new, they are now not only for the office but for streetwear. It was the top trend I saw influencers and industry mongul’s wear during fashion week. For someone who lives for dresses, I do find suits to be incredibly chic. I wish I had bought a pink or floral one for fashion week. Maybe next year? This is a trend that will be brought back season after season, so safe to say I will get another chance.

Bag Belts

Fanny pack are back in style but with a new modern name. Call it what you want, we are back to sporting the classic fanny pack of the 80’s and 90’s. And I, for one, have been waiting for this moment since they left. A bag that doesn’t feel heavy on your shoulder or you have to carry it around…. yes please! It seems like bag belts are everywhere, and as they should be. Easy to wear, adds a little flare to your outfit, and super convenient. I am current loving this Prada one, but the Gucci bag belt seems to be the most popular pick.

Micro Sunglasses

There were a lot of people walking around looking like Keanu Reeves in The Matrix all thanks to the new micro sunglass trend along with springs top trend rubber. I think this is a trend I am going to pass on (my face is not shaped for it) but I will say some people looked pretty chic while wearing them.  If I were to buy a pair I would go for more of a cat-eye.  The 90’s truly are back!

Lots of Color and Patterns

You can never say New Yorkers do not know how to do color. I wore an all black outfit to a show and felt out of place. EVERYONE was in color and pattern this past fashion week. It looked like spring came early! Among those colors the top three were red, yellow, and lilac. Of course I wore color too, but most of my outfits were minimalistic compared to some people who looked like a chic crayon box. Since layering was a trend and a cold season must, it was easy to pair and mix pattern and color together. Another top trend was the monochromatic look– head to toe in one color. I always find this to be so chic and on trend.
