restaurant-guide-NYC

It has been a while since I took you on my culinary journey throughout New York. Last time we talked about quick grab-and-go’s, today we are going to talk about my favorite casual, healthy restaurants and brunch spots. All are so good that  you may never want to eat anywhere else ever again.

The Butcher’s Daughter

My favorite spot in New York City for every meal of the day is The Butcher’s Daughter. Healthy and delicious, TBD is a plant-based restaurant. Owned by Heather Tierney who started the restaurant because she wanted to own a juice cafe and make one heck of an avocado toast. I will make any excuse to meet with a friend or take out-of-town guests, just so I can have their AB&J toast (only complaint they do not make it on the weekends). I will eat there alone or do carry-out or I will stop by just for their yummy juices. I really have no shame when it comes to their deliciousness. It’s nothing fancy but I do love the decor, giving an outdoor vibe. The restaurant(s) itself is a little small but they do offer outdoor seating– the entire restaurant is pretty open. If you have never been I highly suggest going for one heck of a delicious meal– and if you want someone to go with you, that someone is me!

Made Nice

Made Nice is a new restaurant owned by Will Guidara and Chef Daniel Humm. Guidara is the owner of Eleven Madison Park (dubbed the worlds best restaurant), The NoMad, and EMP Summer House.  I have not been to the first two restaurants, but I have been to the EMP Summer House in the Hamptons. They hosted a kick-off party at the beginning of the summer which a few of my friends and I were invited to. It was so much fun and the food was amazing! Anyway, when I heard they were creating a fast-casual eatery, I knew it was a must try as the food will undoubtedly be delicious. And I was right! The food taste like heaven. I practically fell off of my chair when I first tried their Brussels sprouts— best Brussels Sprouts I have ever had! Next on my list to try there is the milk and honey soft serve. It is a little out of the way for me (located in NoMad) so I do not go as often as I would like, which is a bummer. I try to make the effort to go when I can.

Lafayette Grand Café & Bakery

One of NYC’s most popular restaurants, Lafayette is great for weekend brunch with your friends or family. Try to get a reservation or you may be waiting a while before you eat. Once you finally get a table, you have the hard decision of which french cuisine to choose from. My choice is either the pancakes (pre-gf) or the omelette. Their dessert is amazing too— what? like you’ve never had dessert after brunch before? Anyway, if you are looking for a great brunch spot, Lafayette should be on top of your list.
