Confession #1: I have never been a fan of denim. Growing up I refused to wear jeans until I was in middle school. Before that I only wore dresses, skirts, and leggings. Not much has changed since then,  the majority of my wardrobe consist of dresses, and thank God leggings are in style, but I now wear jeans too. Rarely. Why you may ask? I am not a fan of the feel of denim and as a child I thought they were uncomfortable to wear.  Actually I hated wearing pants in general. Now that I am somewhat on good terms with denim, I only wear what I feel is comfortable.

Confession #2: I am not the best at dressing casual. I know it sounds silly, but it is true. Example: a dress I wear almost daily in the summer to run errands in, I once saw a girl wear the same dress to a wedding. Example 2: a few weeks ago I meet up with other bloggers for happy hour. The dress code was casual cute. Everyone was in cute jeans and a tank or wearing a romper, while I came in looking like I was going to a luncheon. I was out of place. You see, I was always taught growing up to dress up because you never know who you will run into and you always want to look your very best. I was never  allowed to dress down at school, and if we go out to eat you better look nice. My parents are that way, and I am that way. But I love to dress up, I feel more confident, more myself that way. In the winter it is easier for me to dress more casual as I can easily throw on my pixie pants and a huge sweater. I have been trying to work on my casual attire the last few years, and these jean shorts are part of my quest.

Confession #3: These are my first pair of jean shorts ever. Yep, you read that correctly. I have never owned a pair of jean shorts in my life. Remember confession number one, I have never been to keen on denim. I did however own a jean skirt back in the early 2000’s when Laguna Beach was all the rage, but barely wore it. Anyway, back to my shorts. I have never been a fan of jean shorts,  and to be honest I still am unclear if I like them or not. I always found them to be way too casual. So why did I buy a pair? Well what drew me to these shorts is that they are high waisted. I thought the high waisted look elevated the casual attire.  And I have to say I enjoy wearing them, especially with my favorite off the shoulder top giving a little 70’s vibe. The shorts are very comfortable and the denim is soft, so it does not bother me. I hope to wear them more often than I think. But lets be honest, I can never say no to my summer dresses and I will forever be the little girl refusing to wear pants.
